In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Robert Marsh, I hate to do this

Denzil,

Jerry is FAR from spokesman for anyone here but himself. You really have to take his "you should have known better" diatribe with a couple of grains of salt. You're hardly the first or second or third that he's said the very same things to.

You did the right thing brining it here. There are FAR more who will never say anything but remember your experiance than you will ever know.

Don't let ol "knobby" get to you. In his way he probably means well.

WHOA!

QUOTE]You are correct in that you may have paid the asking price without bidding, but I am sure the price was an attraction , just as going to the site intself intices people who are looking for a deal. [/QUOTE]

Since when was looking for a good price a bad thing?
I've bought quite a few things on Reptibid and I have never had the slightest problem!
JERRY, why are you attacking Denzil in the first place, he's only trying to help others avoid the same problem that he had!
It sounds to me like you have some sort of social problem with any one out side of "YOUR" clique!
Are you sure a coconut didn't hit you in the head during that last hurricane?

Overton, you mean the last

4 hurricanes. We have gone shutter crazy here in So. Fla.
I am glad that you have had some good experiences with Reptibid, and I do hope they continue.

I really have nothing further to comment about Denzils experience but as Ive indicated we are all to familiar with these stories. Things would be so much easier if people could see what they were buying instead of dealing with blind faith of a stranger. The one thing that should be realized is that these purchases really dont provide protection for the buyer. Unless you are dealing with a charge card, once the cash has been sent, you are at the mercy of the seller. Personally from a business point of view , I dont like those odds. I need some kind of control from both ends. Its part of my comfort mode when doing business with strangers.

If you were to check any of my previous threads, I even make inquiries about people I intend to sell to. I think its so important to know as much as you possibly can before entering an agreement whether buying or selling.

How far did Denzil actually go to protect his own interest! I think from the description in his early posts, it becomes quite obvious that not much checking went into the purchase. He was ripe for the picking. Someone has to say something, and if people are upset because I may be a bit hard on the buyer, allot of this could have been avoided. The final question is this: what is Denzil going to do about it? What are his recourses? and will the seller make any attempt to rectify a lousy sale that should never have been consummated. JERRY

Yeah, sticking his nose in and adding his worthless 2 cents seems to be Jerry's forte. He always wants to blame the person who got scammed instead of the scammer.....doesn't make much sense to me.

Sorry about the hurricane joke!...I just couldn't resist! :D

I guess it all comes down to faith in your fellow man, and a little reasearch helps, but your always at the mercy of honest or dishonest people!

One thing I allways do is call and talk in person with the seller, it just adds a personal touch, but in the end your still at there mercy!

Mr. Beard, I dont know whom you

are, but I can assure you that whatever information I may add to a thread is worth a little more than two cents, certainly more than the information you seem to have provided to this thread.

I dont blame people for lost monies due to being taken, I do blame people for not protecting their assets when conducting a deal such as this one and others that have similar stories.

I think we can both agree that Denzil checked the BOI , AFTER, he sent this person the money, and not before!
Secondly, Denzil waited three weeks before he received an email. I dont know the particulars, but I would assume that shipping should have occurred right after the monies were received. At that point, I think we can both agree that Denzil knew their was a problem!, and as it turned out the deal went downhill from their.

Where was the shipping date, why did Denzil allow this to continue for that length of time? What avenues did Denzil take to protect his funds? the answer is simple, this purchase was based on poor business information, lack of protecting ones own interest and wishful thinking on Denzils part that everything was going to be wonderful..........and Toto will get back to Kansas with Dorothy.

Yes Mr. Beard, you are correct, I have entertained other posts similar to this, not to be disrespectful, nor to add fuel to an already burnt out poster, but someone has to bring these things to their attention as well as letting others know about the scam artist who beat Denzil. As much as you may not enjoy reading these threads, Denzil will be more vigilant, and I can assure you, that Denzil will hopefully protect his hard earned money a little better next time he ventures into dealing with strangers.

And as for you Mr. Beard, I have no problems in responding to your threads, but please understand that I am under no obligation to pat anyone on the back because they came here to complain about a loss. In most cases , the negligent party is the one that seems to loose their money. The scam artist knows exactly what he is doing. So I will continue to stick my nose into these threads if I feel its necessary. To bad for you if you dont like it.

I do understand

that I failed to protect myself from being ripped off and I will use different avenues to help insure that it doesnt happen again in the future. But if I was an able person who could just hop in a car and go to a legit breeder I would, but that isnt an option. I live in a very real world. Being disabled since 1997 and also being a fulltime single father of 3 young boys, my options for purchasing anything, let alone reptiles is very limited. Purchasing via the internet was one way I could make these purchases. I know that everytime I do make a purchase I am at the mercy of the seller. Most of the time it is a good experience, but sometimes it isnt. But it is my only option to do something that I really enjoy. It is also one way that I can interact with my children in spite of my disability. I have also met many fine people by purchasing via the internet and some of those people have given me great deals on great animals. I appreciate everyone of those people. I also appreciate anyone who has given me good information. Without it I wouldnt know nearly as much about my animals as I do now. I think that Mr. Tresser is probably a very fine person and I am sure that I could benefit from his business sense, but I think we both live in very different worlds. That is not a fault of either of us. Its just a fact of life. I am sorry if I have said or implied anything against Mr. Tresser as I am sure he hasnt implied anything other than my poor business judgement. To which I would have to agree. But I also know that I will continue to use fauna, reptibid and KS as a way to continue doing what I enjoy, which is raising herps. I do not claim to be a professional breeder, herpetologist, business man. I am a hobbyist. An amatuer. I have been keeping snakes in general for nearly 20 yrs and I do not claim to know anymore than the next guy. I know that I still have much to learn and that is part of the enjoyment I get from having these animals. It is a privilege that I do take advantage of. I have hopes that after posting today, that this thread will just wither and die and then we can all get back to our own little worlds. Thanks to everyone.........Denzil Short

DENZIL, I sincerely appreciate your

post, and as I indicated earlier, I am not your enemy in these matters. May I suggests that because of your situation you should find people whom you can rely on to at least try to get information about a particular person or business if you have the slightest doubt, or need more information in order to make up your mind and get a better picture of what you are getting into.

You certainly can email myself or many others here and I am sure we would be delighted in helping wherever we can. I am not knowledgable about snakes, but I sure know my geckos, so discuss these potential sales with others before you make a decision. I realize that sometimes these things are not easy, and even the best of circumstances can end up with difficulties.

But here you have no recourse, and I would hope with future sales, that other avenues such as using paypal or a credit card will further strengthen your position. My humble apologies, for being a bit rough on you, and please contact me if you are unsure about a potential sale. If I dont know the answer, I know others who can possibly help. JERRY TRESSER, NYCPD (RETIRED)

what is funny is I have had good luck with repti-bid, as a seller and buyer, yet have been taken across on KS and here. It does come down to knowing who you are buying from. While I have heard the tales of repti-bid being bad, I still check it and sell roaches on it.
I hope you get your money back or another snake. Don't let one bad transaction turn you away. At least you tried to find out more about this guy on here. Good luck!

Im sorry to hear about the original posters bad experiences, people like that tarnish all of our reputations, imagine what goes through a persons head who is new to this hobby/life that things such as that happen to.

However, i have to say, Mr. Tresser your sweeping generalizations and blanket statements disturb me, not only that but they are incredibly offensive to anyone who has sold on a site such as Reptibid (many reputable breeders do business there for the extra exposure... ). Also, judging from many of your previous posts I have read, your "invectives" against what is wrong with the industrty today sounds like no more than the sour grapes of someone who cant stand that things are no longer like they were in the good old days when monopolies were rampant (not to mention poor husbandry) in this business. Im sorry for going so off topic, but, respectfully, times have changed Mr. Tresser, launching subtle or not so subtle attacks against other peopels practices won't fix anything.
