• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,
I am posting this as an inquiry because im not sure if im really ripped off yet but i think it is going that way . . .AGAIN!!!

Seems as though I can't stop getting ripped off.
I really hesitate to even post this because I know im going to get made fun of but . . .Ill take the chance. I just can't believe there are so many baddies out there.

Anyway . . . Saw this ad on reptileauction.com for a female albino ball python. They had two available, one was 900 (starting bid/buy it now) and the other was slightly larger and was going for 1100 (starting bid/buy it now). The ads were just posted so i wanted to jump on the deal and get them for the buy it now. I emailed someone named James and he told me the smaller one was sold but the bigger was available. I asked some questions (why so cheap, etc . . ) He said they were trying to fund another project.

I paypaled the money, thinking I was safe from being scammed as I always hear that paypal is the way to go from you guys. (i used western union before during my last scam and learned the hard way that is the WRONG way to go)

Anyway, I expressed my concern about being scammed and was called by a Robert Palmer (dont laugh). I screened the call and called him back. I was put on hold and heard commercials for Federal Express, and Federal Express shipping information. When he got on the line, he said that he was at work and thet he worked for fed ex. Seemed legit as I had just heard the fed ex "on hold" jargon. Basically he told me that everything was ok. If I wanted him to refund my money he could, no problem but that everything was legit. He said he would ship out monday, July 31st. On sunday he called me and said that he had a family emergency and that he would not be able to ship for a week becasue he had to go out of town. He said he would refund the money if I had an issue. Being the kind, trusting, fool that I am, I told him to stay in touch and we would plan for shipping for the next week.

This Sunday Aug 6th, i emailed him and said i was wondering about the status of my snake and the shipping. He said that he was still out of town but that his associate could probably ship out on tuesday for a wednesday delivery. He said that he would either send me a tracking number on tuesday or a paypal refund. He said he would take the little monetary loss by sending a refund becasue he did not want to loose me a as customer, and we discussed other morphs that I wanted and he was going to have them available in a week or two.

So . . . i have not heard from him.
no tracking number, no refund, no explaination.
i tried to paypal him 1 dollar to see if he was still a paypal member and i was told "this address can not receive payments"
I tried to post a disbute and was told that "this seller could not reply to my disbute". Therefore, i guess he pulled his paypal account.

Does this mean I can not get my money back?

I guess paypal is not as safe as i thought. All the seller/scammer has to do is close the account, right? He was a "verified" member but who even knows if that helps once they close an account.
BTW, this is all happening right now so he might contact me tomorrow with some excuse but I doubt it.
Just thought id try to get some advice. i plan on calling paypal today and seeing what i can do.

silly me . . .

Jessica, did you fund your PayPal account for the purchase with a CC or your bank account? If it was a CC, call the CC company and initiate a chargeback...

heard from robert . . .

I actually received an email from Robert today saying he is so sorry about the delay and that he is still dealing with his family emergency, out of town.
He said that he tried to paypal the money back to me but paypal has blocked his account for some reason.
i guess ill hold out a bit longer . . .
Thanks for the advice, I DID pay with credit card via paypal and will call them to find out my options.
thanks!

Jessica don't walk!!!Run to the paypal site and start trying to get your money back he's just stalling you. If you wait to long you can't do a thing. Read other threads here and you'll see the same thing people find this or that reason not to ship or refund till it's toooo late.Don't tell the guy and give him a chance to remove funds, act quickly ...Randy

I have to agree with Randy on this one......stalling with "family emergencies" is a page right out of the "scammer's handbook". Do you have a physical phone number or address, or ANYTHING on this guy that is verifiable? And why did you email a "James" initially, if the guy's name is Robert?? Too many red flags for me.

The only reason Paypal would have to block his account would be if others had disputes or claims filed against him, as far as I know (though I could be wrong on that one, call Paypal and check it out). You only have 45 days to make a claim through Paypal.
