In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Rodent food

Randy -

What are you feeding?

Your local feed store should be able to order Mazuri in bulk for you.

If you feed Teklad - Harlan will do bulk no problem. Their closest distribution center is in Maryland. They will ship for orders $500 and up.

My eyes must be failing me.

I thought I read it as BULK not block.

Where in Jersey are you?

I know of a couple places you can pick up Mazuri.

I'm also looking to pick up a couple of ASFR trios.

Your best bet would be your local feed store as Scott said. They'll most likely have to special order it, but anyone who carries Purina should be able to get the Mazuri as well if that's what you want to use.
Purina makes several different lab grade rodent blocks under that brand name as well.
I used to order it from a feed store here. It usually took a couple of weeks to get it in, but I would order a dozen bags or so at once.
As long as you can store it where other rodents or bugs can't get to it, you could order 6 bags at a time and only have to order twice a year.
The benefit is it saves shipping since the feed store just has it put on the truck with their usual order.
Shipping charges will pretty much double the price of the feed if you order it by the bag online.

A question of bulk. Who does sell a bulk rodent diet, and any idea what the minimums are? I have been talking with Nutrena on making one up but if its available already?

Randy,

Not sure if you are in N Jersey but if you are, Mike's Feed Farm in Riverdale or Totowa carries Mazuri for about $13/25lb bag. The Riverdale store always has it, the Totowa store needs to get it brought up from Riverdale.

I feed Purina rodent chow, it seems to work great. It comes in 50lb bags. The chow is large pellets, and the rodents do very well on these. I think it runs around $20.00 per bag.

Thanks folks,,, I've asked the company we get horse food from and they can get it but it is expensive through them .. Jamie that's what I was looking for, I'm east of Freehold but will be going up to Newark next week, I'll have to stop by Mikes in Totowa and pick some up...

Scott I can get ya some Soft furs not a problem..... Randy

Some feed stores sell their own blocks and it's a lot cheaper. I'm not sure what the feeding requirements are for feeders since I've only had rodents as pets, but if you want healthier rodents, make sure the corn isn't the first ingredient.
