    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I think that my breeder rats have mites. I've seen a couple tiny brown colored bugs on them and I want to get rid of them before it gets bad. Fortunately nothing is on any of my snakes. Anybody have any experience of getting rid of them? What is the best thing to use and is it safe to treat my feeders too?
 
Using cedar shavings bedding always worked for me. Never had issues feeding snakes rodents kept on cedar. Rodent mites are specific to rodents and dont live on snakes. Once the mites are gone, you can change back to whatever other bedding you use for rodents.
 
I have used selamectin/Revolution for cats to clear up mites on my breeder rats before. Just put a drop on the back of their neck. You will see mites for the next few days but within a week you should not see anymore. I would not feed off any that were treated for at least a month or two either.

I have also used Provent-a-Mite on their bedding too. I used it just like I would for my snakes.
