In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Last month, I ordered rats from "Rodent Pro East". Apparantly, they are supposed to be affiliated with Rodent Pro. With rodent pro's reputation, I decided to place an order with them. I received some horrid quality rats that looked like very poor lab surplus rats.

To make my transaction worse, I emailed Kevin at Rodent Pro to let him know about the transaction and the customer service was even worse. The following is the email that i had sent and the one that I had received. Notice that it took just short of 1 month to receive a reply.

I just received an order from "Rodent Pro East" and I am less than excited about the quality to say the least. The large and extra large rats that we received were bent in weird directions, bloody nosed and some were black bellied. I have seen better quality lab surplus than what I received. Many of the rats had to be disposed of because of the quality.

If this is the type of quality that I can expect, I am going to return to my regular supplier. I decided to try your Canadian company based on praise that I had received about Rodentpro.com from *******.

I was under the impression that I would receive top grade animals. What I received reminded me of the lab rats that regularly come from a Montreal lab.

Jen

Jen,

I'm sorry that you are not happy with your order of rodents. Your name
however does not ring a bell. Can you please remind me of when I
shipped to
you as I have no record of a "Jen Kuzac" ever receiving an order from
me.
The only province outside of Ontario that I've shipped to is New
Brunswick.
So, if you could clarify this for me it would be great to clear up this
matter.

Thank you,
Corey Woods

Rodent Pro East

Jen,

Yes, I am one of 2 Canadian Distributors for Rodent Pro. I cover Canada from Ontario East to the Maritime Provinces. As I stated in my email to you (which you didn't respond to) I have no record of ever shipping rodents to a "Jen Kuzac". Infact, after receiving your email I called all of the people I've shipped rodents too and all of them were happy with their rodents. In fact most of my customers I've shipped to do repeat orders on a regular basis.

The lab in montreal you mentioned no longer ships out rodents as the person stealing them was fired for theft. The rodents he was selling were experiemented on and were suppost to be incinerated, however, he would pack up some for himself and sell them on the side.

Also, I have never shipped rodents into the province of Quebec.

Maybe you got in a shipment of rodents from Andrew Fruck of Mice for You and confused his rotten rodents for my rodents?

Feel free to email me if you have anymore concerns. However, at this point I'm considering this a fraudulent claim.

Regards,
Corey Woods

You know Corey, that's a pretty big accusation to make about a competitor. But I guess rather than competing, it's just easier to make slanderous remarks. But I guess those who have been around long enough are used to it by now.

rodent pro quality??

I also just recieved an order of colossal rats from rodent pro that I was concerned about. the rats were just thrown in zip-lock bags and they were frozen in strange positions that makes it impossible to stack in the freezer. there was no dry ice in the box and some of the rats were a little thawed out. They really don't look very clean and healthy but this is my first time ordering frozen rats. I have seen some on other web sites that were on trays and neatly packed. I saw some at my local pet store and they were also laying neatly flat in a bag. I bought my own breeders today and am not planning on dealing with these guys again. From all the testimonials I read on their web-site I felt this was the best company to deal with. I also found a thread on Kingsnake.com with other people who have had bad experiences with rodent-pro.:(

the rats were just thrown in zip-lock bags and they were frozen in strange positions that makes it impossible to stack in the freezer.

This would be what happens when you freeze rodents individually. You see, if all the rats were shoved into a zip-lock bag shortly after being euthanized, and then frozen, you'd have a big chunk of frozen rats. Then you'd be left with the decision of thawing a whole bag, or breaking a rat off (if possible). Typically, you'll break off a rat, and rat parts. Not the best time in the world.

there was no dry ice in the box and some of the rats were a little thawed out.

Certainly there was dry ice when the rodents were shipped... Sometimes the rodents will thaw slightly, but if you put them in the freezer, they'll be fine till you need to feed them off. I've never had a problem.

Most of the "bad experiences" with rodent pro are unfounded... There's a reason they are #1.

thanks, just not impressed.

Thanks for your input, the info about why they are in contorted positions makes sense, but I ordered them in bags of two so that I could defrost what I needed. Also several of the bags have holes in them. When I tried to call rodent pro before placing my order, with a few questions, I got a recording, just wanting my order. I'm not really bashing them, I just feel that I didn't recieve the quality that I was expecting and that I paid for. They advised me that I would recived an e-mail with a tracking # when the box was shipped. I didn't receive the e-mail on the day the box was supposed to be shipped so I sent them an e-mail asking if my order was shipped or not. I did not get a reply until the following day when I received the form letter with the tracking number. You are probably correct that if the rats are partially thawed they will still be o.k. however I am feeding them to expensive animals and I wouldn't like to chance feeding them a bad rat. I posted this reply just to let others know what they will be recieving, so they can make an informed decision before they shell out hard earned money. I would not tell anyone not do business with them, if the conditions of the animals, the packaging and customer service, I have experienced are o.k with them.

not ok

I have ordered from Rodent Pro several times, and received shipments throughout the year. The rats were always frozen solid with plenty of dry ice still in the packaging. Rodents that are starting to thaw are NOT ACCEPTABLE. This just indicates a degradation in packaging quality. I feel that anyone who complains about thawing rodents is well within their rights to expect some kind of refund, unless you left them sit on your doorstep for several days.

Rodent Pro

My husband Todd (maddhatter12369) has been ordering various sizes of mice, rats and rabbits from Rodent Pro for at least the past 2 years, and we have NEVER had any problems with the quality of the animals, or the packaging condition when they arrived. We order large quantities (last order was around $300), and in all the mice, rats, etc., we have received over the past 2 years, none of the animals have been in any contorted positions, there has never been anything wrong with the shipping package or the bags the animals are in, and the bags have always fit nicely in our freezer. The packages always arrive with plastic covered insulation inside, and once that is opened, there is always plenty of dry ice left inside the insulation and the animals are always still completely frozen. We have always gotten awesome service from Rodent Pro, and Todd refuses to order from anyone else

I've only placed one order with Rodent pro so far but everything went really smoothly. Everything arrived just as expected and there was plenty of dry ice left over to make a few small bombs with :D. I live in Arizona and this shipment came in via Greyhound last month when it was around 110 degrees. If they arrived frozen to me I can't imagine how anyone else would have problems.

really dissapointed now

I guess the positive responses should make me feel more confident about rodent pro but before I wasn't sure if the condition of what I recieved was normal or not. Now I am sure that what I recieved was not acceptable.
I have new concerns now, about an hour ago I checked on my adult male and he is very bloated, he vomitted a brown, mucous like substance that smelled beyond horrible. I have never had that happen before and the only change that has been made is the frozen/thawed rat I fed him two days ago from rodent-pro.

is rodent pro and rodent pro east the same company? we have ordered from rodent pro and have had no problems. just wondering if they r the same

KERRI NEIGHBORS

I have made several Rodent Pro orders and have never had a problem. I like the fact that the Rats are in different positions, that way they dont stick together. I have never had rats come in thawing out. The customer service I received was top notch and I always recieved my e-mail shipping notifications. I dont post much in the B.O.I. but I always read it. I decided to post on this topic because I have had great service from Rodent Pro. I would check to make sure you ordered from the real company. With regards to your snake vomitting a brown liquid......Was the prey item too big and did you thaw that rat completely?

I deal with Rodent Pro and I do know Kevin is very busy but there is nothing wrong with the rodents he sells. I have seen many post about this but still no reply from Jen Kuzac. Now if Jen did make a mistake from who she got the rodents from I think she should be apologizing to Corey and Kevin from Rodent Pro. So till Jen can come up with more on this accusation I agree with Corey and this is a fraudulent claim.

Since I've never sent rodents to a "Jen Kuzac" I'd like to see her post a copy of the sales invoice as well as the receipt from the shipping company to back up her claims.

As I stated before I'm 1 of 2 Distributors for Rodent Pro up in Canada.

You're really going out on a limb now. You have absolutely no evidence that your snake's ailment is from a Rodent Pro rodent.

Maybe if you bring your snake to your vet, and post the results here... That might lend a little credibility towards your statement. Or disprove it.

not accusing

I'm not accusing rodent-pro of having bad feeders, I don't know what's wrong with the snake, this just happened in the middle of this discussion and I don't know what else it could be. I have sent e-mails to other trusted sources to find what this might be caused by. Yes the rats were completely thawed and they were the same size as other pre-killed rats they have eaten. I am not interested in continuing this thread, and I don't expect a refund from the company. People keep asking questions so I am replying, and I'm trying to answer them the best I can. I do know that the rats I recived did not have any dry ice left in them, they were partially thawed, some of the bags had holes in them and that is not good. I don't want any compensation from rodent-pro, I just won't be ordering from them in the future. If I have to take the snake to the vet then I will post one more time to state the outcome. Again I am not into bashing anybody on these sites, I have concerns that I was looking for input on. From all the positive responses about rodent-pro, they must be doing something right and I just had bad luck with my shipment.

Scooby,

If your snake vomited it could have a stomach parasite (such as, but not limited to, Giardia). Most stomach parasites eat away at the lining of the stomach wall creating sores/open wounds in the stomach. When the snake eats the stomach acid is thrown up into the open sores irritating the stomach which causes the snake to puke a half digested rat (which isn't vary pleasent). Most stomach parasites are easily treated with Flagyl.

If your snake pooped out the brown goo then he most likely either has parasites or a bacterial infection. Most worms (pin, round and hooks) don't really make the snakes crap messy unless they are in very high numbers. An ameoba infection would case the snake to crap out brown goo and it would be very messy/smelly as well. Most ameoba's are treated with Flagyl and most worms are treated with Panacur. As far as bacterial infections go samonela can cause the snake to crap out brown messy/smelly goo. This is treated with injectable antibiotics.

A fecal sample brought to your vet should help determine what your snake has. When you bring the fecal sample to the vet if the vet only does a fecal floatation that will only look for parasites. You want the vet to check for bacterial infections as well and they will have to grow a culture for that.

Good luck with your snake. It's unfortunate but a lot of WC balls are sold as CB (for more money then what they should be priced at of course).

thanks for advice

The brown liquid was vomitted and he hasn't regurgitated the rat, at least not yet. I will check on him in the morning and bring him to the vet if needed. Thanks for your help.

Hey Jen,
Looks like your whole post on Rodent Pro was a bunch of BS. You still have not proved anything to back up your claim.
