Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Rodney Boalich of Clearfield, PA. "Purple retic guy"

Good lord, I feel dumber after reading all this. A snake can have mite eggs and no mites, thus, making mites unable to catch with the naked eye. Snakes can be treated and the eggs can live through treatment... that's why you re-treat.

and on one last thing you were at a reptile expo and bought a snake well EVERYONE knows there is a higher chance of mites at expos and shows then anywhere else. whats saying you didnt get mites while walking around the show and then transfering them around or that the snake didnt get them while out on a table if a neighboring vendor had mites or someone brought in a snake to sell or trade to a vendor that had mites. alot ways got to be looked at here. sorry for stirring this up again.

A snake purchased in a plastic container didn't get in excess of 20+ mites from just sitting there. What do you think there was an army-ant line of mites crawling directly into the tub?

Don't be so simple.

Unless that was the only animal that you touched that day and you were the only one to pick up said animal, whose to say you didn't bring em over from another table. Or possibly someone else who looked at it before you was holding another animal that did have mites and he transfered them to said animal. The possibility of it happening are much greater than you think no matter how much you want to down play it. And if you didn't get the animal until the second day of the show(i have no idea just making a point) that's at least a solid day and a half for the animal to have come into contact with mites from an alternate source other than the breeder. For this reason I keep a small bottle in my glove box so i should happen to buy something or trade something I can treat it once before it ever reaches my home.

I came to the show for a purple retic only and walked right up to this table. It was in fact the only reptile I handled, not that it would matter based on the situation.

The day I brought it home it sat in its water dish all night and there were a ton of dead mites in the water. It wasn't eggs and that many didn't crawl into the container.

This was my first reptile show and lesson learned, however idiots need to stop coming in here making up nonsense excuses as if these mites weren't on this snake long before it was brought to the show. The breeder later stated that he had mites in his collection.

Feel free to reread that as many times as necessary until it sinks in or your eyes start bleeding.

One I have read it and I do know that the breeder stated that they came from him, my point was that it is a great possibility given the circumstances. And so what if you went straight to his table. Did everyone who looked at that animal come to his table first or did they maybe walk around and possibly pick up some hitchhikers along the way. You can't down play the possibility of mites coming from a show.(even though they didn't in this case)

Secondly if you want to call names, get ready for your glass to get broken.
You came to a conclusion on facebook with the breeder about the situation and then let a third party work you up and then talk you into posting this BOI when they have absolutely not a single oz of anything to do with the deal. So basically you went back on your word and hurt somebody's rep based off of peer pressure which makes you sofa king we ta did. When you have some integrity or backbone whichever it is your lacking or both you should publicaly apologize to the breeder for the unwarrented harm you caused to his rep and buisness. And after all the public bashing and harm to his rep, he is still going to replace the animal, which make you one lucky SOB. had it been me all you would have gotten was a pic message of my middle finger.

Wow, what was the need to bring up this topic that has been dead for a while now. The owner already stated that he got 2 new mite infested snakes, and instead of quarantining them he placed them directly in his collection. So the snake getting mites at thwarting show is not possible, no matter who touched it.

I stated that thankyou and it hasn't been awhile.

You're simply reiterating hypothetical situations that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. As far as this guys rep is concerned I could post plenty more in addition to this but I don't really have any interest in making another thread that gets filled up with pointless commentary by fanboy backpatters.

Move along now.

So I fail to see how I am a fan boy. I strictly keep boas and have never had any dealings with either of you. And back to the point that you owe this guy an apology for going back on your word after ya'll had come to an arrangement. A man is only as good as his word... without your word(integrity) your just another run of the mill__________. You all can plug in your own colorful word that you best think fits.

Because some people sit on there computers all night cause they dont have a life. so they ready these old post and then put there .2 cents into it and bring up old crap.

He never kept any of his word, for the record. I was talking about other people in this thread as fanboys, not you. You're just making a fool out of yourself with your ridiculous banter.

He told me I could keep the prolapsed snake and he'd give me another one for my trouble. When it came time he then said he would only swap it out, and I had no intention of letting this little guy get freezer bagged after all he went through.

He told me at one point he would mail me a $60 money order for the vet bill, that never happened.

I met him at a show a few months later and we BS'd for a few. I was looking for a male platinum and he told me that he would sell me his breeder size male at a dramatically reduced price if it would square me and him away. I took the deal, although the snake came with 50+ mites and minor respiratory issues which have since cleared up.

i thought this thread died a long time ago. as for the mites it happens i have a lot of snakes and a lot coming in and out. anybody that keeps 50 snakes knows that. as for the prolapse i didnt think it would happen again. it only happened once and rob was informed of this before he bought the snake.

i told him i would give him a new snake for the one that prolapsed and would trade it out. he said he didnt want to do that because he really liked the snake. i asked him the snake was ok or if it was still prolapsing. he said it was still prolapsing from time to time. i told him i wasnt going o just give him another snake but i would send him money to get the snake fixed. i explained to him that he couldnt keep letting that snake prolapse because it was going to get an infection so i told him to take it to the vet and send me the bill. i didnt hear much from him until the next show and he said he wanted a platinum i have a 8ft male on my table that he liked. i asked him if he got the purple fixed he said no so i said if you want ill take $200 off the price of the platinum if that would square us up. he said ok. a week an half later i get a call from him saying the platinum was sick. he said it was hacking stuff up. i said is it hacking up hockers or did it look like spray on the cage. he said spray. i asked if the snake was in a shed he said yes. i told him it probably wasnt an ri it couldnt breath real well because it was in a shed and the spray was from taking big drink and getting some down the wrong pipe. i said wait until after he sheds and see what happens. the snake shed and rob said the snake send fine and was eating. almost three months later i have a post on my facebook wall from rob about how his snake was sick and it was my fault. i understand robs discontent. nobody likes having problems with their snakes snakes. but they are animals and if your going to work with live animals your going to have problems form time to time. its just how it is. i hope he got the purple fixed and i hope the platinum is doing good hes a nice snake. i think the platinum was too hot. i asked rob about his temps and he said the cool side was 83 to 84 thats a little to hot for a retic

His body temp on the cool side was 83-84, the floor and wall of the cool side was 81-82. Anyway, keeping him in damp conditions for a while seems to have gotten rid of his issue.

I know full well that there may be problems from time to time with animals, however I also know that I've had immediate problems with both snakes I got from you. I haven't had any issues with my other retics from 4 other breeders. Anyway, I'm not bumping this to bash you, this other clown brought this thread back.

I hate when people say " oh yeah, mites, they happen". Mites should never "just" happen. And i think it speaks volumes of a breeder's character and outlook on the health of their animals when that statement comes from them. That just makes me sick.
