In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

hey guys. anybody know of someone named Ron from KY? he's got an ad on kingsnake right now for a ten lot of '03 Nelsons.

it's not actually the ad i'm interested in. early this week, he put an ad up for a 10 lot of gray banded babies. the price was good, and i sent him an e-mail. he'd only posted it less than an hour before i saw it. i never heard back from him, and the next day the gray band ad was gone.
a couple days later he put up the nelsons ad, and i emailed him again to inquire of the gray bandeds had actually sold. i never got a reply for that one, either.

anybody know who this guy is? i'm sorry, and i know that dealers must get a TON of e-mails regarding some of their ads, but is it Really that big of a hassle to give people that wanted to do business with you a quick reply saying 'sorry, but they've been sold' ?
because now that i have been ignored twice by this guy, i will never do business with him. every other dealer i've EVER e-mailed about an ad has gotten back to me, even if the animal was already sold. i just think it's polite.

i wanted to know if anyone has any further information on 'ron', so i can put him on my list.

thanks, guys!

Give me a Break!!

I am only Human people.

Here's how it goes,
the first people that email me are the people I focus on. Right-Wrong or indifferent that is how I do it. If you are the first people to email me, you are the first inline to buy.

I was replying to emails and the 2nd or 3rd email had requested I send him a pic and my phone #. I did. I hadn't gotten through the next email and he called. We agreed on terms, he paypaled me, Deal done!

I went through and
sent emails to everyone who replyed saying "Sorry Sold"..

If I missed anyone I am very sorry.

My only problem is this guy is on here crying that I didn't reply to his email. Not that my animals are bad, sick or worse dead. He is crying because he missed out on a good deal and he wants to cry about it and to give me a bad name..

I hope to God this Cry baby puts me on his little black list. The less I have to deal with idiots like him the better off I will be.

Do you people realize this is a hobby?? I do this for fun and because I love snakes. I work a full time job to support my family. I don't sit around all day in my Moms basement trying to sell snakes so I can buy beer.

People like this guy are the reason people get of the hobby. I enjoy breeding snakes and you can't keep them all so at some point you have to deal with the public. I try to deal with as few people as possible that is why I sell groups of animals. Less people!

I am venting and I am sorry if I affended anyone but I am so tired of dealing with these babies.

Would somebody please warm up this babies bottle so he will be quiet.

Ron,

It is nice to see you can respond in a adult Mature fashion when approached with a problem. He has every right to wonder what is going on. He stated that he e-mailed you on both ads and heard nothing back. I also would be wondering what was going on if a dealer/seller did not respond to 2 e-mails from different ads. 1 e-mail missed I can see as a mistake or slip up but 2? I get more e-mails every day than you can probably imagine (1800+ in the last 26 days) and EVERY single one gets a response back. Whether it is an e-mail for an animal I have for sale, wanting information on health and care, or whether it is just general questions and or chit chat. They all get responded to. Yes it makes it easier for me to do so now that I do my Reptile Buisness full time but even when I worked as an Engineer and worked 50+ hours a week I still took the time to answer their e-mails. It is common courtesy. I can also understand and see how you might get a little upset that he posted what he did but he was not out of line in the least.

I hope to God this Cry baby puts me on his little black list. The less I have to deal with idiots like him the better off I will be.
I think you've solved your problem with LOTS of "idiots like him". I'm one of those "idiots" that answers her emails and expects answers to the ones I send. I'll make sure I don't bother you in the future.

Good luck with your hobby and your animals,

:wavey:

thanks for giving a dealer's point of view on this, rob. i couldn't agree more. including what you said in handling things in a mature fashion.
i read the BOI a lot, and i've found that it's the bad guys who reply to a complaint or problem by calling people babies, idiots, and any other insult that pops into their mind. the good guys, on the other hand, are mature and in most cases respectful of the person with the problem, whether it be a past or possible future customer.

and though my post was a complaint, it served another purpose as well, as stated in my first post. that is to find out the name of this person for future knowledge. i've done that, thank you.

oh, and you're darned right you're going on my "little black list". you don't have to have sick or dying animals to be a bad dealer and person.

but i would like to add just one thing.
i'm FEMALE, you guys!
:D

lol, it's ok

your point matters more to me than getting my gender right or wrong.
:)

I just wanted to weigh in on the general topic of this thread. I am not a professional breeder, I do this as a hobby. Even so, if I post something for sale, I respond to every inquiry about that animal, even if the animal is no longer available ("Thank you for inquiring, but the animal has been sold"). But I frequently have responded to questions about an animal, including taking additional pictures and e-mailing them to the person inquiring. Then I never hear from the person again. I think a potential purchaser should also have some type of closure on this type of interaction, even if it is a, "No thank you, I'm not interested anymore." No other explaination is necessary, but a simple message from whoever wants to terminate any potential deal is just good communication skills. This goes for both sellers and potential buyers.

Just as a postscript, this topic came to mind because I have had 3 inquiries in the last 2 weeks that I have reponded to, and not had any responses back from these people.

oh, absolutely. the communication and courtesy should go both ways. it isn't all left to the dealer, or at least it shouldn't be.

i couldn't agree more.

Actually, Ron has hit on a brilliant idea here. If the goal is to deal with the fewest number of people possible in this community, he is well on his way to attaining it!

Common courtesy is anything BUT common . . .it goes hand in hand with common sense!

This is ridiculous. I agree that emails should be answered in a timely manner as often as possible but sometimes things come up that are more important than email. -Most- of us have lives other than our reptiles, and there are sometimes situations that come up that can cause a delay in replying to emails. There have been plenty of times I have emailed people (some of them "big breeders") over the years and not gotten a reply immediately, sometimes never. Yes, it is a tad annoying but I just figured they were busy, not that they are BAD GUYS that should be "reported" to the B.O.I.

Kelli,

I don't disagree that all of us have at some point gotten behind on emails, etc. The initial posts from Ellen were just questioning if anyone would know why she was being ignored on 2 different occasions.

However, Ron's reply is what most people are going to base their opinion of him on, and I doubt he won many people over by his derogatory comments about Ellen or the other "idiots" that he's forced to deal with.

However, I don't think that's an issue for Ron, so it's really a no harm, no foul situation.

I agree with Kelli. Sometimes things get in the way. I have tried to answer just about all the emails I have received, but if I don't, I would not expect to find my name on the BOI. I do think common courtesy is hard to find nowadays, and should be used in every instance business or otherwise. I have also not received emails back from major breeders, or would not be given pics of animals that I was waiting to receive when the weather got better (only wanted pics to make sure I got the first pic of the clutch and the same animals a few months later when shipped). Was this guys response necessary? No... Was this post necessary? Not in my opinion. I've seen alot of threads around that I felt were definitely unnecessary and this is one of them. If someone does not respond to your emails, then go to someone else. If you have not received sick animals, dead animals, lies, or any other form of bad dealings in a business transaction then dont post. Your putting someones business (hobby) under scrutiny because you didnt get a response to 2 emails. What if your server somehow messed up, or any other numerous things that can go wrong on the internet? IMHO.. Should be something a little more sufficient to warrant a thread on the BOI.
Thanks, Tom Baker

Discourteous, a bit childish, and rude perhaps, but where exactly did anyone call Ron a bad guy? The thread initiator, Ellen, was simply asking if anyone knew anything about Ron, because she could not seem to get a response from him. She wasn't "reporting" him, as I saw it.

i asked if anyone knew his name and/or e-mail addy, and explained why i wanted it. i did include some of my own opinion on dealers never getting back to inquiries, and for that i do apologize. i should have waited untill i had a little more information about the person in question before doing that. for instance, after his response.
i certainly understand about a person getting very busy, and not being able to reply at once. life happens, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
but there is a difference between a delayed response and being ignored.
i stand firm behind my belief that if a dealer choses to ignore my queries about his or her animals, then they don't derserve my money.
ever.

Darin,
In her original post she stated that she had been ignored (removing possibility of it being an accident), that she will never do business with him, and that she wanted more info to put him on her "list". It sounded like she already formed her opinion to me, and she wanted more info to make it official. Saying that you will never do business with someone, over 2 emails in a one week period, sounds a bit negative to me.
I also think he responded pretty childishly, but it probably freaked him out a little to read her thread. I do believe that you should respond to every email and be as courteous as can be to any customer, potential customer, or person for that matter. Just thought this was jumping the gun.
Thanks, Tom Baker

like i said before, yeah, i did jump the gun, and i'm sorry about that. i should've stuck to straight facts until i had more information to base my opinion on.
though i had already made up my mind before i posted that i'd never do business with him, i think you're right in that i should have been a bit more... open minded.

hehe, i'm negative by nature. i think i read the BOI too much. :)

Well, she did not exactly call him a BAD GUY *at first* however she did say this:
because now that i have been ignored twice by this guy, i will never do business with him

and this:
i wanted to know if anyone has any further information on 'ron', so i can put him on my list.

and then in her next post, she says this:
i've found that it's the BAD GUYS who reply to a complaint or problem by calling people babies, idiots, and any other insult that pops into their mind.
and this:
you don't have to have sick or dying animals to be a BAD DEALER and person.

She kinda did infer that Ron is a BAD GUY. I just don't see what the point of the post was, she wasn't planning on doing business with him because he had not replied to two of her emails in the last week (I think I am correct on this), so it was not an INQUIRY, she was not posting to tell us all Ron is a GOOD GUY so I guess I just didn't understand the point of the post. If everyone that didn't receive an email reply from me right away posted on here I'd be in big trouble! ;-)

Ellen-

I guess we were posting at the same time. Please don't think my post is a direct reply to your last post! I can understand getting frustrated when you don't get an email reply in a timely manner also, I just feel sorta bad for Ron that his name was brought up in a negative fashion on this site for something like that.

Good Luck!
