We've only had Globito for 2 mos. now so this is the stage where we are really noticing similarities and differances of this San Felipe Male RB to our previous pet, a Female Colombian BCI. First and most obvious is size (and this is the one most welcome in the opinion of my wife
) Globito will never attain the 5' long/ as thick as your arm stature....but to get to the point of this post, he eats with a unique style. Whereas the Boa Constrictor Imperator would pull the prey into her mouth by jaw action alone, and then by gripping the head with her throat muscles to pull it down the rest of the way, The Rosyboa will always keep a coil around the back side of his food and use that to push it into his mouth in conjunction with the walking action of his jaws and also use his throat muscles to grip the head and pull it into his stomache.
IOW the BCI would use two distinct manuevers to swallow her food while the RB will use three. Is this the typical table manners of a Rosyboa?
I'd include a foto, but lately he's been taking his mice indoors to eat and that makes photographic records nearly impossible.
