    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i got a bag of rats and dethawed them and i started feeding sum of my balls and by the itme 3 of my balls had them down i noticed they were rotted like stomaches hangin out of them can this hurt any of my snake ???? please help

joe

While I don't think I would feed them, there are things that can cause this to happen besides being "rotten". Have you thawed them and refrozen them? What size rats were they? Where and how long ago did you get them?

I haven't done nothing to them i was at the Wheaton reptile show on the way out of the show i picked up a bag of jumbo, smalls ,and mediums i got them home stuck them in the freezer and last night i took 6 of them out and deathward them then i grabbed them started throwing them to the snake and by like the 3rd one my finger sank into the gut of the rat and i looked at all the rats the snakes were eaten and the guts and stuff were hanging out of them . Can this hurt them from being a bad bag of rats ?

Did you quickly thaw them under a heat lamp or other similar means? That can happen if they get heated up. Thaw in water or some other slower manner and it should not happen again. Good luck.

I did thaw them out in water thats how I've always done them . I don't no what happened to them maybe I let them sit in the water to long they didn't stink or nothing they just kinda fell apart . But they were rotted can it hurt my snakes that ate them ?

It probably

will not hurt the snakes. Snakes in the wild even feed on carrion which is much worse. Sound like they were thawed and refrozen before you purchased them if all you did was thaw them in hot water. I have thawed them in water that was too hot and they did the same thing as your did also.

Thank you so much you just made my day I have been siting here worrying there going get sick . And think I might have to have a talk with the guy I got them from . Thanks Tim

I agree with Tim....I would guess they got thawed out on the way to the show (or perhaps on the way home) and then were refrozen, which breaks down the tissue and makes them mooshy. (Technical terminology there :rofl: ) I have had rodents do the same thing when thawed in really hot water as well, but it was usually pinks or fuzzies that seemed to do it in that instance.

Well....the "innards" have a unique scent, lol.

Did you thaw all of the rodents you bought? You could try thawing just one, in lukewarm (not hot) water, and see if they do the same thing.

I guess it comes down to if you aren't comfortable feeding them, don't do it. Contact the person you bought them from and see what they have to say.
