In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So saturday May 11th, I decided i wanted to buy my first snake. And i remembered Round Table Exotics had a ball python for sale. So I got in contact with them and they said they had a normal yearling that is 68g for $40. I had no idea how much they should weigh :shrug01: so i said ok ill take it, they delivered it to me (because they are local) and asked for no extra money to do so. So they brought it over and i was so excited so i started to take pics of it. I posted them to facebook and got multiple comments of people that were saying Ball python hatchlings way more than 68g it also had stuck shed. So I messaged her and she told me that it was born last august and she is positive. After multiple people were commenting that the ball python was way to small for a yearling, I asked her when she last fed it, she told me she fed it on april 30th. I was shocked :(

And today I talked to her about returning it, she told me she would but she said she would charge me a delivery fee, and stress fee. I was very upset because after that because she also told me she didn't appreciate me bashing her on facebook. I was very shocked to hear her say that because i never said anything about her it was the people who were commenting on the picture of the bp. :NoNo:

So i just wanted to point out to everyone that she rarely fed the bp, and sold it in bad health to a minor! (yes im 16) Oh yes she also told me there was 2 week warranty and power feeding voids the warranty. But also remember that i said she did not ask for a delivering fee and asked for a ''stress'' fee! :bandhead0

You can see our conversation in the pics attached to this thread!

I saw the original post and am really surprised by her reaction, you did not say anything bad and neither did the other posters OTHER than the fact that she should not be selling an unhealthy snake and that the "stress fee" is bullshit and she is just trying to take advantage of a minor.

thanks for understanding iv decide i'm not going to return the snake to her. I will keep it and nurse it back to health! If she didnt take care if it before she wont do it this time either!

The average size of the ball pythons I hatch is around 65 to 75 grams out of the egg.

I actually had one hatch 7/12/2012 at only 24 grams. She was the runt of the clutch. As of 5/7/2013, she was 506 grams.

What am I saying? 68 grams for a yearling? WOW !!

wow these commenst she is making on the FB post is not very professional at all. Knowing you are a 1st time snake owner whether minor or not . She should not treat her customers like that. Calling you DUDE? that right there would make me never want to purchase a snake from her at all. I have never heard of a stress fee or a delivery fee if she volunteered to bring you the snake. I'm sorry they took advantage of you and I guess you are doing what you feel is best for you and the snake by keeping it. People like her make it hard for new people that purchase these snakes. It becomes more of a stressful situation then it is a fun situation.

68 g sounds way too small for a yearling, but I'm confused on the timeline - having a last feed of April 30th doesn't sound wrong to me? Feeding once a week, and holding off a couple days if they are going to a new home, sounds pretty normal for me.
It'd be more informative if you asked for feed records - was she feeding once a week? Was the snake eating fine, did it regurge?

Bad on the seller for not taking the snake back once it was established there was a problem with the animal

Oh from what the OP mentioned she wanted to take the snake back but charge her a stress fee? and a delivery fee.. Maybe if I make it hard for her to return it she'll just keep it and I can make it seem like she did something wrong here.. I call BS on the seller. She should have took the snake back with no fees. Not make it hard on the buyer and seem like it's her fault.

Bump up its humidity with some cypress mulch and that will help it get its stuck shed off.

Get it on regular feedings...I would try to get it going on a pinky rat for a couple weeks and then move onto fuzzy rats. Yes you will have to do a little bit of nursing but this appears to be far from life threatening. It has had a rough start and honestly it wont take much to get the lil guy on the right path.

:iagree: If you think that she wasn't taking very good care of it I wouldn't return it, just get good advice like above and try to get it back into great health.

She should never have sold you an underweight snake (in all honesty it should not have been underweight to begin with, she should have fed it properly), and that retained shed is doing no favors to her reputation. :NoNo: And the "stress & delivery" fee is ridiculous.

OP I am glad you are going to nurse this little one back to health.

Calling you DUDE?

Whats wrong with DUDE? I use that and BRO . Does that make a bad person or something ?
I think the name Chase in a guy.

I wish you luck in getting this poor snake up to par. Glad you decide to keep it and not let the person have it back. They dont deserve it.

Rich, pretty sure the OP was referring to the above post where mitch was referring to Chase as a female.

Pics show the snake is Bloated, which is common in hatchlings at times. This snake did not hatch a year ago. Even feeding it once a month would cause it to grow to be over 120g by now.

Get a small container like a 6qt tub, Fill it with luke warm water, Toss snake in there for 30 mins. Water should only go halfway up the body of snake, let sit and keep it elevated off floor. This should cause the constipation to pass and get you a nice huge poop or Urate(aka Piss). Do this daily till its released.

If recently fed...the following days to a week or so before a BP "unleashes the fury" they often have what us BP owners call "Sausage Butt" which is...they have a fish in the tube and will be going #2 in the next day or two or three. What may look like impaction to you could very well be the snake getting ready to unload. But yes, if you want to stimulate their lower digestive system and help them to progress their doodoo business, warm water as Rich mentioned above for 30 minutes or so can do the trick.
