My company got bought last February and I was given a few hundred RSU's (restricted stock units) in the new company. The new company just entered into a merger agreement with another company and they made a tender offer on the common stock. My RSU's are now worth what the tender offer is for and will be converted to a cash at the time the deal is completed. Has anyone ever dealt with RSU conversions? I have dealt with common stock things before but never restricted stock units. Anyone know what the tax liability on this will be (the tender offer is at a 40% premium on the current stock price)? The timing of the conversion to cash? The company is being very sparse with the details behind this transaction.
