In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This is an inquiry/ Warning about "Adam Woodard" or maybe "heather"
It is not a bad guy thread because, besides being rude and unprofessional, I have no proof that he/she was lying initially. I am assuming so based on the contents of the emails.

I would want to know about this before I did a transaction with someone, and as a lot of you, I search the BOI prior to making purchases (and sometimes before selling, if the person seems fishy).

In a nutshell, Adam (email: [email protected]) inquired about a snake I had for sale and made a low offer (while posing as a poor single mom with two little girls that love pythons). I countered his offer, with a little bit of reasoning why.
Then I get this weird email from him. That goes from this poor single mom who says "God bless" to an infuriated lunatic who no longer seems poor (owns high-end, expensive morphs - GHI's, Ultramels, gravels).

Not somebody I want to do business with and thought you might agree and appreciate the heads up.

(emails are newest on top, so start reading at the bottom if you'd like to read them in order.)

My 2nd (final) reply (after a little thought)
After thinking about your email...
Please add another email address I use sometimes just to be extra sure we never complete a deal! ([email protected])

Are you the only person working with GHIs, ultramels, and gravels? (I know you're not, but If you were, I'd be sure to NEVER get into any of those projects if it meant involvement with you.)

I understand the business/industry very well so don't be sorry, $50 will not make or break me. If I was that desperate, I would've made the deal.
Part of "understanding the business" is knowing what something is worth and not selling it at any cost just because someone made an offer!
I have people make low offers all the time, which is respectable, you don't know if you don't ask. However, if I don't accept we both just go our merry ways until next time.

I don't know the cause for your outrage, but whatever it is I hope you get it worked out.

Also, I will be sharing your emails from beginning to end on the fauna BOI so others will not fall for your "single mom with two little girls" trick. I don't think anyone who has (if it's even true) GHIs, etc is hurting too bad for cash. That, and I can only assume you're a guy. I've never had a woman call me "brother" in conversation.
Take care and good luck with all your exciting projects,
Troy

My 1st reply to rude comments

Wow. Thanks for the snide remarks! Lol
I don't really see the reason for that. What did I say that made you so upset?

My Reply to his/her offer

Sorry Adam I can't do that.
She is already lower than any other female champagne I've seen by $100. She's probably about 300 grams. I can get an exact weight if you're interested.

My Initial reply

Hello,
Which snake are you interested in? The male sold yesterday. I could do the female for $350 shipped.
Thanks,
Troy

That very first email is so full of warning signs I would have never bothered to reply. So much crap like this these days...

I agree with you guys, but honestly so much of my business comes from good, honest people who just use horrible grammar and spelling, etc.
Sometimes it's hard to decipher from one email...

If they can't bother to use capitalization and complete words I wouldn't respond.

That's not very fair. I use short hand if I'm on my phone at work. Sometimes the dumb auto correct misspells or screws up. I do agree that the op was fair to counter offer and I would not to business with he/she either. You catch more bees with honey not vinegar. Thanks for the warning!!

undervaluing ball pythons and low-ball offers is what drives the market down; thank you for sticking to your guns and valuing your animals.

Mostly overproduction and panic, which feed the above factors, although "career" low-ballers operate without regard to any sense of decorum or respect regardless of the state of the market. Many of these latter types get surprisingly aggressive even when politely declined.

he has done the same to me a couple of times now over the last few months. he is not the rudest reply lately, as some inquires are just unreal. but, here is his last low ball offer

"Will u accept 1000 for that baby male ghi. Disabled single father.trying to add to our collection.if u can great if not no prob. Thnk u. Unfortunately all these snakes are now only worth what someone is willing to pay. Dealers have cut each other's throats so bad market is not worth a crap any more."

So first he is a single mother of two
Then he is the snotty lowballer from Hades
Then he is a disabled single father when writing to someone else.

It seems to me that he will say whatever it takes to get himself a deal.
There is a line between normal negotiation in business, and abusive tactics, and it seems to me as if he has leapt over that line with plenty of room to spare.
If there was an Olympics in abusive haggling, he'd take a gold.

:iagree:

What an unpleasant individual. Glad for the warning, won't waste my time responding to them ever.

"Unfortunately all these snakes are now only worth what someone is willing to pay."

That really just galls me. Playing the "sweet disabled person" act then slipping in an underhanded line like that to try to intimidate the seller.

Why is it that people assume that if they're single parents, or disabled, or whatever else, they should get stuff cheaper?? That they deserve a break?

This irks me. I was raised by a single mother who wouldn't accept a hand out from anyone. I have a truly disabled sister who would bite you if you told her you'd charge her less for something simply because she's disabled. (She'd prolly smack you with something too, it's the Scorpio in her.)

Bottom line is that people like this give those who work very hard for their animals/collections a bad name. I have sold animals to young guys working fast food. They've saved and saved to afford something from me. They never were rude or told me that because I wouldn't drop the price they're putting me on a "list", rather they just kept working their minimum wage job to get that animal.

I'm sorry, but zero sympathy for low ballers here.

Which is the most likely response?

A) Y'all don't know anything about business, everyone makes stuff up, ethics, shmethics...
B) Unless you are involved in the transaction, you have no right to comment
C) Someone else was on my computer
D) I'm calling my lawyer
E) All of the above

Low-ballers like to use that line (about value being what the buyer is willing to pay) without fully understanding it. The line is true in principle. The context it is recited in is not necessarily the proper one, however. If you have one snake of a particular kind to sell, you do not need this "buyer". You just need one buyer for the one snake who is willing to pay. It does not matter if hundreds of people would pay less. It only takes the one actual buyer willing to pay to make said sale and justify its "value" in terms of pricing. If there are no buyers at a particular price point, then it may indeed be the case that value has been incorrectly evaluated and a price incorrectly assigned. However, that is not necessarily the case here and what the low-baller is willing to pay has no bearing on what other potential buyers may be willing to pay. A single sale requires only a single buyer.

I prefer to decline politely unless these types become aggressive, in which case one can always suggest something from Petco or a similar chain might be a better match for a person who has much more limited disposable income and, if one is so constrained by being a single parent, having physical ailments, or other "issues", maybe they should address what causes them to be unable to afford the animal instead of its price tag and what they feel they are somehow (falsely) entitled to.

Most definitely E) All of the above . He could even throw in an F) It's always the same Fauna groupies who post ... get a life.

Yes! Let's not forget that all of us on here have no lives, and we live in fantastical worlds where unicorns roam and we have not a clue about pricing/selling or genetics.

Wait! You forgot option G!

Option G.) all of the above plus Fauna is full of bullies who want nothing more than to destroy honest sellers reputations through the BOI.

After confirming (via other emails with completely different stories) that he did in fact lie (even though, that was assumed all along). This could definitely be justified as a Bad Guy Thread as opposed to an Inquiry. I don't think it would matter much.

I think the best part was that he would "charge me double", as if I'd want to buy from him. Then we find out that he is low-balling with a different Sob story for the same morph he is going to charge me double for....

SMH

This. The worst sellers always end up saying something similar.
