    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry S&S exotic animals inc. Texas

Actually Evan, if you work there and you know how to care for reptiles, they will fire you for suggesting better husbandry practices. I saw it in 3 separate instances, one was a guy before me that I worked with there, one was myself, and one was a friend of mine after me. They sometimes hire people that know what they are doing, but as soon as some suggestions are made by that person, they show them the door.

I used to like them quite a bit since I got one of my Black Tree Monitors from them, in far better shape that most others I've seen, but now I'm rethinking about purchasing from them again. I bought a Peach Throat Monitor from them (V. jobiensis) around midyear 2013 which died the next day from most likely dehydration. They said they'd give me another at the next show I attended, which was late 2013. I received one almost 3 times as big and was VERY excited, to the point I also purchased a White Lipped Python (L. albertisii). Upon getting home and to a set up cage with 80-100% humidity to prevent and dehydration issues, I noticed him being very wobbly and all around not right. I asked them for some info so I could take it to the vet, and instead they told me to ship him back for a refund. I knew he'd just die that way since he was already off, so I rejected the offer. I contacted my friend who breeds varanids and he said it was most likely either dehydration still and be corrected soon, starvation, or permanent internal damage from importation. He lived up to a few days ago, so we're guessing permanent internal damage. He ate well and never had dehydration issues, but the last week I saw what had happened before again. The white lip I bought from them came in with RI and mites, and is still in quarantine for treatment.

Suzette(im presuming the owner as she stated) told me the same thing in 2008 about a Rainbow Boa i purchased. She came in with horrible scarring, an RI, and mites. I was told to ship it back at my expense to get a full refund. I tried explaining that it would not make it all the way back to Texas in the shape it was in and further more, it was not the same snake pictured in the KS ad. I ended up keeping it alive for a few more days before she passed. I was not answered when I sent an email letting them know she had expired. They cover their tail very well. This is word for word on my receipt from 11/22/2008

SELLER is not responsible for bites, scratches, stings or other injuries inflicted by any of the above animals

SELLER is not responsible for the transmission to humans or animals of bacteria, viruses or parasites in any of the above animals.

WHO is then?
If i lived in Houston, I wouldnt even ask them to break a $20 bill.

I don't know who you would blame; but I agree that those things do not fall on the seller...the possible exception being if you are at their place of business when the injury occurs. That isn't a defense of S&S, it's simply common sense.

If you receive an injured, sick, or parasite ridden animal from someone it is entirely THEIR fault for sending you an animal in that shape. As sellers, their duty is to try and provide animals in the best shape possible, fix any issues the animal came in with, or atleast warn the buyer first.

No arguments there; but that has absolutely nothing to do with the statements I quoted in my post.

I think what Harold was trying to say is its not the sellers fault if you get bit or scratched ect... or if say salmonella is transferred by the animal. something like if the snake has mites or is sick is not covered under that statement and should be refunded!

All I was trying to say is that people selling animals should not ship sick and/or injured animals. The animal should be the one pictured, unless otherwise stated as a stock image. The real resolution for me was that S&S started putting "this is a photo of the actual animal you are buying" in all of their ads less than 3 months after my experience with them. I do agree that the seller had a policy, but does that policy become void if the animal for sale is not the pictured animal and the photo is not listed as a stock image?

I have been to their shop. It is not that great. They keep their chondros in tiny Kritter Keepers 24/7. They sex them waayy too early and many have kinked tails. They don't know a lot about their animals, also. Claiming they have 80% diamond jungles and saying an Irian Jaya is a coastal. Wouldn't do it.
