In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

S&S exotics houston

Hi I;ll start off my saying dont do it. I got a suppose female honduran off of them as soon as i opened it up and probed it , It was a male . I called them back to tell them it a male and i wanted a refund and they said if i pay shipping. They kepted calling me threw out the day giving me reasons why it was a female and telling me I WAS WRONG. I will never buy from there again ever.

seth rock

If it's S&S in Houston this might help with your decision. This thread was pulled from KS but I'd grabbed a screen shot to remind me never to deal with them.

A direct quote of the first sentence of their terms of service.

"We do not offer any type of guarantee on our animals"

To me, that sentence says it all. stay away...far away from these people.

i've been to the store and it is disgusting. the cages are never cleaned and the animals looked very poor. I wouldn't purchase anything from them. They are obviously just in the business for the money and obviously care nothing about the health of their animals.

I haven't been to the store, but I live in this area, and I hear nothing but negative comments about that store and business. I have never heard one good thing about them, especially where reptiles are concerned.

This is weird. We JUST had another thread on this business maybe two months ago and people who lived near the place liked it but those who bought online/had things shipped complained of lackluster animals. Now it seems all negative. Is Suzette's business on the rocks?

hmmm that dos not sound good:(, can anyone link me to there thread afew months back?

dos anyone have any mammle buying experiences with them? like i said there the only place i can find that gets chipmunks, and theres some other mammls i whant from them as well, but its mainly chippies

and i live in canada, and we dont have them here, so iam going to a lot of trouble and expense to get afew up here, from what i can figure out it will cost me $600+ or so to get two pairs shipped to WA and brought back and then theres taxes and exchange on them, so i whant to be sure iam getting good animals

and to make things worse after june 1 i will need a passport to enter the US, wich i dont have and probably wont get so i dont have long to find some and order them..

I have been to the store multiple times as well, but I would not recommend purchasing from them online or even from the store if you don't know what your looking at or what to look for. Some of their animals may be ok, but I highly recommend examining the animal even though you can't see problems on the inside. I second purchasing from a breeder. Even if it takes longer to find one, your certain to get a good animal.

SS Exotic Animals-- Deal with them and lose your money!

I went to the store last year when I was in Texas and it was pretty nice, the animals looked well taken care of. I've been contemplating buying some exotic mammals from them as well, but with all of the bad stuff I've heard I probably won't.

I have bought several animals from them, but will not buy from them again. If you are not able to walk in the store and hand select an animal, sex the animal yourself, and have a vet verify the health of the animal before money is transferred, then you are setting yourself up for a bad transaction with these people. It doesn't matter how much experience you have with a particular species, if something goes wrong they will blame YOU! Even if you prove that they are at fault, they will simply refer to their terms of service which essentially says that they are not responsible for anything.

I sell Richardson's Ground Squirrells, and my supplier gets them from Canada. I'm not sure where in Canada, but you might check out some stores there and see if there are any for sale. Sure, they are not chipmonks, but at least they are small. They look like mini prairie dogs, which I also sell. Small, cute, and friendly.

dos anyone know any private breeders? i cant find any that are actualy breeding them, except helens little critters and i read afew bad things about ther, plus hers are $150 wich is a bit expensive for me, healthy chipmunks are more important to me than tame ones

Ken Foose, iam pretty sure i know ware your supplier gets his RGS from up here, i had a pair i caught in alberta and tried to breed, but that did not work out to well, iam hopeing when i go there in may i can get afew babys if there not to old yet, when you get them young they make good pets and they are realy cute, but WC adults are nasty SOBs, you cant realy get them in pet stores here for some reason not sure why as there a pest and everyone kills them, when i got my pair late in the year i had a hard time finding any, most had been shot poisoned or eaten by badgers.....

I have a Dilute female an Agouti male and tomorrow I'm getting a Dilute Male. I may sell my Agouti male since he'll be single, or I'll re-pair him.

I got my female Dilute from an exotic animal auction last year called "Mt. Hope Exotic Bird and Animal Auction" and I got my Agouti from Helens Little Critters. The business was taken over by someone else, and now there are no problems that I know of. I had my Agouti shipped about six months ago and didn't have any issues. I'm getting my male Dilute from a breeder who posted on his ad on the Chipmunk website that was previously posted.

If your interested I can give you a list of exotic animal auctions. You can also subscribe to The Animal Finders Guide (http://www.animalfindersguide.com/) which is like a classified for exotic animals, you can find them in there sometimes, and auctions post ad in there as well.

Other options, breeders, animals, etc, are better suited to the discussion forums...this is about S&S Exotics.

My experience with them S&S went like this, I inquired on a kingsnake ad they had up, looked good enough. But then I read the terms and they are so ridiculous I had to ask them to clarify. So I asked them about the shipping or health gaurantee. They told me they would not refund, replace, or do anything under any circumstance! So they could put a dead chipmunk into a box and ship its rotting carcass to you, take your money, and say, "hey our terms specifically state there are no gaurantees of any kind".

Wow. that just screams quality. I know that my comments here may seem harsh, but seriously... this is an industry based on trust, and as a business they certainly dont have mine. Of course that just my opinion, but it doesnt look like its out of line with common experience. so yeah stay away from those guys.

I have been to the store multiple times. I have seen cages that are less than perfect but there are very few high volume pet stores that have perfect cages. I am suprised at their shipping terms. I am local so I have never looked at that. I see an issue with not at least having a live animal guarantee. I will say that they have one employee named Robert who is wonderful. He will answer any question you have and will verify the sex of the animal(at least snakes in my experience) before you purchase. He is always willing to help out and show you all of the animals. The store personel are not pushy either. They ask if you need help and then leave you alone to look. The stock changes pretty regularly too and they have some interesing species! It don't think I would put it as a place to avoid.

In respone to a comment about knowing what you are buying, this should be a given when purchasing any animal. If you cannot walk into a pet shop and know exactly what you are buying, you need to do more research.
