    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sad news. :(

One of the prettiest babies died some time last night and I found her this morning. We tried giving everybody one cricket to start last night to evaluate who would eat and who wouldn't. Only three out of nine wanted anything to do with these crickets. We feed small and ripped one leg off so they could be easily caught.

The baby girl that died took two small ones. I know I was over qualified compared to the guy that had them, but feel under qualified to deal with some of these situations even with all I have learned since my first Gecko Gex. This baby was the first dead Leo I've ever seen and I've never had to treat MBD or emaciation. The little girl took the first one with gusto, then the second, a few seconds later she did a mouth thing I've seen my own baby Squee do if she has food stuck in her mouth somewhere. So we leave and come back and check on them 15 minutes later and she puked one up. :( Like I said I'm not sure what the regiment is for going about feeding something emaciated. I have also learned I am going to have to feed them slower so as not to shock their system, and build them up over time.

So I want to know and PLEASE don't drag me down if I made a mistake. Did I kill this little girl with two crickets, and the gurge. Was it my fault? I feel for that but theres something I don't get that breaks my heart. This guy hatched her out from the emaciated Jungle Dad I know that much. I don't know who Mom was. He hatched her out and said shes been a "stubborn" eater from the start. Stubborn? She ate those crickets and wagged her tail. I saw no problem.

He didn't offer crickets in the end days...or months , just meal worms. So what breaks my heart is the fact that its not really about thriving for breeding but since the day she was born she lived in what I saw. Freezing cold with very little food!! How can someone do that?! This poor girl NEVER had the warmth and enjoyment of food in life. NOW THAT TICKS ME OFF! I cried for her today at work and was whipping away tears all day so people at work wouldn't see me crying. I feel miserable about her. :(

My other concern is how should I be treating these ones with MBD. I am scared witless to syringe feed calcium or anything for fear of breaking a jaw. They haven't eaten on their own so far. I know the tips of their mouth or nose is hard. What do you guys think? Any advice or thoughtful comments are sincerely appreciated. :)

I'm sorry to hear you lost one, Kristin.

Are they good and warm now? If they are not warm enough, that can cause the regurge.

Yes they are good and warm now both stabilized hot side 91 and cool side no heat. If the kool side is is the Outside temp on a Thermometer then its 84. It was within 24 hours though, they went from ice cold to outside in the winter, to my house and basking in the sun to their temps now. So she went through heat shock and to much food for being emaciated and thats quit shocking at least I think? What kind of routine treatment should I be doing in the case of the MBD's? Should I take this to the Veterinary forum?

One of the first things to do with emaciated reptiles is to fully hydrate them. I honestly nave never had an emaciated leo, but with snakes it is best to soak them for a half hour in shallow water around the same temp as the cool side of a proper set up. Water is important, and if they are dehydrated it will be difficult for most body functions to be carried out properly.

Rescuing animals, while very noble, is also very expensive and the results are not always nice. Good luck with those ones, hopefully at least one makes a full recovery.

I am so sorry for the loss of the little girl. :( I am sure she knew you tried and she passed away warm and with someone caring for her. You gave her comfort in her last hours and that is wonderful, that should make you feel good about what you are trying to do for these little ones. It does not sound like there was anything you could do for her aside from what you did and I do not think you should feel like her passing was your fault. I hope you are able to help at least a few of them. I have rescued some fat tails, and know people who have taken in leos, and sometimes they are just too far gone. All you can do is try. Good luck and keep us posted.
