    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've been looking for a bateater for some time now... I posted on several sites and on some facebook reptile groups.
There's a guy named Sanchez che niba on facebook that messaged me some time ago saying he had some bateaters for sale.
The man has some ball python morphs on his page, but no retics or no burms.
I've decided to investigate a bit but never found his name anywhere. So i told him to send me some pictures of the bateater he has. He sent me google images photos of some bateaters.
I replied" can you send me REAL photos that are not stolen please?" He said he was sorry and sent me some other photos that were the property of Retic ranch in the us, same pictures but he had photoshopped them badly (inverted the picture and added a date and time in the lower corner)
then I gave him a final chance to send me actual photos of his bateaters and told him to place a piece of paper with my name on it on the snakes, and he really outdid himself this time! lol :rofl:

He took a picture of my name written on a huge piece of paper AND photoshopped a snake ON the paper, and you can see the snake has been cut out, it's horrible!

So I just want to warn you guys, don't waste your time with this guy.
I'm laughing at this right now, but who knows, if he is trying this trick on me now, it may be because it worked before on somebody else!
 
Any proof of the claims he made only supports his position. Conversely, a post like his with so many accusations and nothing to back it up appears malicious. He can only help himself by posting the pics.

Sorry I offended you. :rofl: I'm quite sure that my post undermined squat, and that your response to my post is pretty much a slap in the face to people who can make up their own minds, whether my lighthearted post existed here or not. I saw nothing "malicious" in the OPs post. And yes, posting pics or any other info to back the OPs claims would help tremendously. Lighten up counselor.

"Reversal of position"? "Error"? Not sure who you are trying to impress here. Perhaps just yourself. I haven't posted a "position". Kinda' makes your "reversal" theory non existent. But by all means, don't stop trying to impress everyone with your incredible insight and/or wit. I will now leave this thread to proceed the way it should, without further interruption by being sidetracked any further. Post away counselor. I find it interesting for several reasons that you are buying a rare snake from a hobbyist in Cameroon. First off, how many bateaters do you really think there are in Cameroon? I will admit that I do not know a whole lot about herpetoculture in said country, but I really can't imagine that there are a ton of breeders of high-end reptiles. Shipping and CITES would also seem to present a problem on a smaller order such as this. A lot more "red flags" are fairly apparent in this, but these are the most glaring. I assume that not all people from Cameroon, Nigeria, etc. are scammers, but it would be prudent to use a bit of caution when attempting international deals with individuals from these countries. I would love to be proven wrong on this, so please provide some evidence so that I may make an informed decision. As far as your "looking for a bat eater for a long time now", what about the bateater you posted on FB on February 22nd? Although I am not intending to degrade anyone through ad hominem attacks, if you would like to be taken seriously by other hobbyists perusing your facebook page (such as myself) you may want to change your High School to something other than "Cluster**** High". Please do not think that I am attacking you (Amelie) or Sanchez, I am simply trying to shed some light on this situation. Hopefully this can be resolved in an amicable manner. As a bit of an aside, I am curious as to whether you and Sanchez are conversing in French or English. Perhaps there has been some information lost in translation.
 
To the OP, do you have any of the pictures the seller sent you? The one with the snake photoshopped onto a piece of paper would be very helpful. You must understand that ALL BOI accusations will be taken much more seriously if proof is posted. Please provide the stolen, photoshopped pictures that were sent to you.
 
Oh yes I have evidence! I've saved all the conversation and the photoshopped pics.
I'm not saying he's a scammer and he screwed thousands of people, all i'm saying is I gave him 3 chances to send me a photo of the snakes he claims he has, and he failed to do that. I didn't want to investigate more, I was just wasting my time. We've been exchaning messages for a week and most of my questions remained unanswered and he lied several times about things, just gave me a wrong feeling about him.
He actually said that he was going to get "the contract" stamped at the chamber of commerce.. and all he did was photoshopping a stamp, a bit sideways to make it look like a stamp. It may not prove anything, but it proves to me that this person is really wasting my time and does not have the snakes that I want. I don't understand why he would try soemthing like that. The photos are horrible, you can see right away he copy pasted a bateater on top of my name with "Paint".

I've asked some friends in the US where I could find some bateaters, they told me some indonesian importers might have some. So I proceeded e-mailing people for snakes. This guy, Sanchez, wrote to me when he saw a message I had posted on a group. And YES I found it weird that he had bateaters, since there were no retic or burm pics on his page, just ball morphs, but I didn't question it more then this. It's not like i took out money from the bank and was going to complete the order, I just wanted to see if he had pics to show me at least. I just want to give a heads up to people, especially ball python fans cause he has some pics on there, maybe he really do breed a lot of balls and sell them overseas, I dont know. One thing's for sure, he's a liar. I wouldn't trust someone like that for anything.
 
What do you mean by ``the bateater i posted on facebook?`` I posted a picture, yes, but it's not a bateater I own, It's a "shared picture".

Look, I don't care if you don't take this thread seriously, delete if you want, It won't make a difference to me. And what's with all this judging? I got an account here for one reason only and it was to search the name "sanchez che niba" on your database, but I couldnt do that before since I wasn't a member. When I became a member, I searched it and didnt find anything, then I had a clear opinion of the guy that was sending me photoshopped pics. Scammer or not, there's SOME kind of proof that this guy is wrong, I mean, come on, the guy is sending PHOTOSHOPPED stolen pictures... he could be doing that with balls too. I thought it was like a duty to report people like that, so others don't get screwed.


Bateaters have been on my wish list for 5 years now, but I didnt always have the money to buy one. Now I do, I started searching for one recently, for all I know now, there are none for sale in Canada, and I got told by different breeders/herpers that it`s going to be hard to get bateaters out of the US cause of the laws. So that`s why I'm open for international deals. Why is it stupid to look somewhere else then the big breeders? Bateaters are not so rare and so hard to breed as far as I know, I've seen TONS for sale, years ago, everywhere.

If this post is not enough proof then so be it, delete it or whatever, I've done my share. I was just reporting a guy that looks really suspicious.

I agree, people on here can be a bit judgemental and jump the gun a bit, BUT in their defense, there are countless threads on here where people will start a thread to slander someone or point the finger at someone who may not be deserving of it. I'm not at all saying this is what you are doing, but it happens all the time on here. Proving proof and documentation is standard practice on this forum.

Anyway...Glad you smelled the BS before buying into this guys scam. :thumbsup:

Amelie, thanks for posting the pictures and Facebook messages- that is definitely a poor Photoshop job. I think it's great that you are warning people- that is what the BOI is for afterall. However, since people's livelihoods and businesses hang in the balance, it is our responsibility to always ask for proof. If someone started a Bad Guy thread about you with no proof, you'd want people to question it too.

I, for one, believe you...this guy sounds like a scammer for sure. He either does not have the snakes and would not intend to send anything when you paid, or he is a flipper and doesn't have his stock in yet. Either way, not someone I'd want to deal with. Thanks for the heads-up.
 
This Sanchez guy has already been banned from a few of the reptile sales / auction groups that I check... for attempting to scam several people (including me)

Don't buy from people in other countries unless they are well known exporters :)
 
Your gonna have a hard time getting your hands on a bateater in the US. Unfortunately, the only way your gonna get one is through international channels. However, there are quite a few breeders up in Canada and you might have a better chance that way.

I have a friend that has several bateaters in NY which are now just beautiful pets. Thanks for the heads-up and good luck with your search.
