    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I don't see what Geckos have to do with anything, I have never heard of you so it isn't as if it is personal, nor did I "jump your back and ride it". I asked you a simple question:

"Why exactly do you feel you have the right to post your opinion, but other people don't have the right to post their opinions? "

Rather than answer you decided to play the victim, throw around some generalities and force your opinion of people giving their opinion down our throats once again...

Perhaps the problem is you hold your own opinion in such high regard and could care less what anyone else thinks, unless they share the same opinion?

As for "verbally beating" you, I pointed out your statement was hypocritical if you feel I was unjust in my assessment, I would love to here why...

It really makes me lose faith in not only the herp community, but humans in general.

And people wonder why I would rather hang out with my snakes instead of them.....

You have two examples; Harald (who helped you) & Sara and you decide to let Sara dictate how you see humanity? That saddens me. :(

In my experience, the Haralds of the world outnumber the Saras.

No, I let the SARAHs in the world make me wary of any human. At least with my snakes I know which ones will bite the crap out of me.....

I was really disappointed to see this thread today (haven't been on the BOI regularly lately). I also thought Sara seemed to be a good person from her posts and agree that she may be in over her head and trying to deal with personal issues.

However, if she had just been HONEST with Harald and said "Something came up, I do not have the money to pay you but will try to have it by this date" or "I can pay you this amount now but don't have the full amount" etc, the situation would not have escalated quite the same way. Lying is unacceptable, no matter what situation. I would never lie to someone who offered such a kind gesture to cover my own embarassment.

Yes, unexpected things come up in life. But how we deal with them shows our character. It's not our business as to WHY Sara didn't have the money, but the fact that she lied about sending the money out brings up a lot of questions about her ethics in general.

The fact that more than one kind gesture to Sara was shown such lack of gratitude (the thermostat), plus the one-line response, completely shatters trust...

Disappointing. Harald - you are a kind and generous person, and so are you, Shrap. Situations like this are disheartening, but please don't stop trusting. Harald - just the fact that when I was asking what keeping blood pythons is like, and you responded with a lot of info and even said "if you ever do want to get one, let me know and I'll try to help you out" says a lot about you, and I appreciate your advice and participation!

Anyway, Sara, regardless of what caused you to drop the ball in this situation, if you don't offer more of a reply than what you have, it makes you look like you just don't care. I'm sure Harald would be open to a payment plan (money sent at certain intervals) if you don't have the whole amount now. But you have to step up and not lie to give yourself more time to gather the funds!

Hopefully this situation will resolve in a positive way and Sara learns something from it... and that Harald and Shrap don't stop trusting people as a result...

Deb, I agree the good people far out number the bad, but a few bad people are very visable and can be heard more than the good that out number them! Harald is a good guy and I hate to see things like this happen to the good guys of the world. :)
