• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Drew, so you're saying that people that ship snakes via UPS are bad guys?

IMO, not a bad guy, but full of bad ideas.

BTW, I have read horror stories of UPS leaving live animals on a shelf. They can confiscate your package if they believe you violated their policy and your snake could most likely die.

Yeah, I think a lot of people have not really sat down and thought about the ramifications. I also think a lot of people don't see any difference between a snake and a lizard as far as shipping goes, and since they don't see any intelligence behind the policy they just go ahead and violate it.

Personally I agree with much of that. I do not see any reason to allow everything BUT snakes and crocodillians. I can see not alowing hot herps (but they seem to allow Gilas and beadeds?) and crocs over X feet or pounds, but an across the board slash makes no sense to me either.

But policy is policy, violating that may get your animal killed and a nice big fine or more headed your way.

The proper way to protest policy (or law for that matter) is to address the board at UPS asking them to redress this policy. If you wish threaten to send ALL you shipping needs to competitors. If enough noise is made they will change their minds.

The wrong way to protest this policy is to mislabel your snake and ship it anyway.

Indeed, the way I protest the policy is to... not ship snakes via UPS :p Fedex can have my $$ even if jumping through their hoops is a bit of a mess.
