• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi, This was going on a few months ago where someone would see an ad you have here for a gecko/ lizard and they email you saying their assistant will send money and 50.00 dollars extra, because he has to be out of town for a few days..... BLAH BLAH BLAH

In any case I just got the email asking for a gecko I have for sale,,,, here is his email.... the sass sfsss will be his username

I have received an inquiry from this individual as well. The 'name' and email seemed suspicious so I decided to check Fauna (same as what you have posted). I appreciate you posting here and saving me the time. I've seen an increase in these types of scams, and it really is a shame.

Yeah, I had gotten quite a few over the summer but figured they were gone until today, lol. Here are the emails, his original asking if my bold gecko was still for sale , me replying, then his scam.

I'm going on a business trip but I will instruct my assistant to prepare and mail your payment which I'm sure you will get in about 2-3 days business days. I'll add $50 extra for the delay. I'll pay by M O or cashier check so send me your info (i.e full name, mailing address and your phone number) so payment can be mailed out immediately. I will also make arrangement for pick-up which will be after you must have received and cashed the payment.Awaiting your info.

Still up for sale? let me know the final price

I received the same email today 11/10/17 except for a snake from the same person, and email address. Last month I received the same message, except a different Gmail address. Sounded like a scam then, and I told him so. The one today, I played along, and told him I only will use PayPal and Pay $$$ to my account. Didn't hear back.
I went and sent the Email to; ([email protected].) They investigate Scammers.
I also sent a message to Fauna so they could get it out to the sellers, because I didn't know where to post it.

Today I received a text from 812-465-2363 worded the same way. I've got many texts from these people. They use different numbers but always inquire about the animals the same way. The question is always "Still up for sale? let me know the final price"..... So I know it's a scammer every time they send me a message. I always tell them to buzz off. I know you are a scammer. These dirt bags are persistent and annoying!

I too had someone text me telling me they'd send extra money in a Cashiers check and pay an extra 50$ for delay...as tempting as it is. Do not cash the check. Even if it's fake your bank will make the funds available. They'll want you to send the excess to another person that they mistakenly sent you. Then say you keep your 200$ and send the 400$ to another person from the excess they sent you. Then when the check bounces you'll be out the 400$ you sent out from your actual bank.

Same scam for me

I was being pestered by texts from 812-465-2363 and then it changed to 812-573-2043...I called them out as scammers and told them to F/O....everyone beware they are obviously working this site.

Thank you,
Mike

I got the same name but not where he lived... the area code is out of Indiana...I hate these guys...never expected them to be trolling our site...seen it on Craigslist plenty of times before.

Ya same number here. How bout we all pester them (812) 465-2363
Area codes 812 and 930 serve the southern third of the state of Indiana. The area codes cover Evansville and most of its suburbs, the northern suburbs of Louisville and the northwestern suburbs of Cincinnati.
Sure in this day and age we could dig deeper and track them down don't like people who mess with our hobby and my business.

I originally posted this thread, the creep did not give me any info of his, as far as the numbers, or addresses that you guys got, he just gave me the scam email, and I told him I knew he was a scammer and to not bother me again. Never heard back.
I hate these guys too, try and have a nice site where we can come to enjoy our hobby, honest people, healthy reptiles to view, purchase, and sell, and then you have to deal with dishonest A$$Holes .

Well i did a little research. They appear to be VoIP numbers. So I'm sure they will change them again soon enough. They're sending checks from UMB bank that look pretty real.

The way the scam works is the checks look real....say you take it to your bank and don't ask them to check funds or the check itself. You have the money deposited in your account and send them back the "extra" money they sent. When your bank does check the check they find out its a fraud so you lose the money you sent the scammers plus you owe the bank back all the money you deposited into your account from the fraudulent check. Kind of a double whammy.....if anyone gets one of these checks contact your closest Office of Postal Inspectors...they will begin an investigation into these AH's and hopefully get this stopped.

Fraud Check

I received a check for $2,750.00 from The Law Offices of Rod Schioth P.A.,
2187 S. 3rd St., Jacksonville, FL 32250 (904) 372-9351...written on a BBVA Compass bank check. I'm going to take it by my bank today...I have tried calling the number dozens of times but only get a voice mail. Once I find out this is a fraudulent check from my bank I will turn it over to the postal inspectors so they can start an investigation.
