In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Samuel, lets start with the basics so we can work this out. Tell us about your Savannah's cage. Temps, substrate, size of the cage, size of your Savannah.

I HAVE A 6 FT TALL , 23 IN WIDTH, 40 INCH LENGHT CAGE 1 HEAT LAMP TEMP STAYS 85-90 DEGREEZ DURING THE DAY TURNED OFF AT NIGHT AND HE IS ABOUT 20 INCHES. IN HIS CAGE ARE 2 LARGE PIECES OF DRIFT WOOD FOR HIM TO CLIMB AND BASK. ON THE GROUND IS HIS WATER DISH , 2 CAVES , WITH CEDAR CHIPS SPREAD THROUGH OUT.

First off, get rid of that cedar, it's toxic. Replace it with Cypress mulch, or aspen, or even better, dirt. Even newspaper would be better than those cedar chips.

SAV.MONITOR

YOU HAVE TO GET IT UP TO 120 DEGREES ON THE BASKING SIDE THAN GO FROM THERE,I WOULD GO WITH SOME DIRT MIXED WITH PLAY SAND..

Good advice from John and Randy. Make sure there is enough substrate for the Savannah to dig and bury itself. Many times a simple change in the environment will be all that is needed to get a Savannah eating again.

Are there any physical differences, like sleeping more?

Samuel, hows the monitor doing? Ive found for me the biggest reason why they stop eating is temperature problems. You need a basking spot of AT LEAST 105 degrees. Your cage sounds really tall so make sure its a spot he can easily get to as well.

Also how long has it been since you changed your bulb? You should replace your bulbs about every 6 months.

My first bulbs had the cage at about 100 degrees in the basking spot, and it wasn't hot enough, my savanah wouldn't eat. I bought a higher watt bulb and got it up to about 110 durning the day and he quickly got his appetite back.

Also you need to get a better substrate. Petco sells a pretty cheap desert substrate for monitors, about 10 bucks for a good size bag, and if you spot clean your cage as needed it shouldn't need to be replaced very often.

I would also not recommend feeding him in the cage. I always take mine out and feed him in a cardboard box. He gets used to being handled and assosiates you and leaving the cage with food, which makes them much more personable and easier to hold, although don't feed him with your hands as you don't want them to think of your fingers as food.

THANX 4 THE ADVICE ILL TRY CHANGING HIS GROUND 2 MULCH OR SAND, DO U THINK THATS WHATS MAKING HIM NOT EAT THOUGH THE CEDAR. I DIDNT NO IT WAS TOXIC. ILL REPLACE RITE AWAY AND C WHAT HAPPENS OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKZ.

ILL GET A HIGHER WATTAGE HEAT LAMP ,THAT MIGHT BE IT BCUZ AT NIGHT IN THE BASEMENT GETS PRETTY COLD .HES BEEN SLEEPING ALOT MORE THAN USUAL 2 SINCE THE EATING CUT BAK. THANX AGAIN 4 THE ADVICE

SO FAR BY RAISING HIS TEMP AND TAKING THE CEDAR OUT HES STARTING 2 MOVE AROUND AND CLIMB MORE BUT STILL HES NOT EATING. HE HASNT ATE 4 ABOUT A MONTH BUT IM KEEPIN MY EYE ON HIM CLOSE, KEEP YA GUYZ POSTED
