NCARK Action Alert!

In 2005 the NC Senate passed SB1032 to study a ban on most Exotic
Animals, including most Exotic Reptiles. In July 2006 it was passed by
the NC House of Representatives in the form of an omnibus bill known
as the Study Act of 2006. This bill was initiated by a group of Animal
Rights Activists called the Animal Protection Institute (API). API is
a tentacle group of PETA and focus' on outlawing exotic animals in
every state in the US. We all know that PETA's ultimate agenda is to
end hunting, fishing, livestock farming and all animal ownership.
Their activists at the NC Zoo at Asheboro persuaded Senator John
Garwood into sponsoring this proposed legislation on the floor of the
NC Senate. Senator Garwood has been voted out of office, but the bill
is now a study bill having passed both houses of the General Assembly.
API and the NC Zoo are shopping for a sponsor for a new bill in the
early session of 2007. Call your Legislators and let them know you are
against SB1032 and an AR agenda in NC! SC is facing a similar
situation. Visit the NCARK booth at the Columbia Show to find out how
to do more to stop the Reptile Ban in both states. Join Us & Help
Protect your Rights!

From the NCARK group:
Roark Ferguson was integral in the formation of NCARK. We are now proud to announce that we will be working together again to create the SC Association of Reptile Keepers (SCARK). To find out more you can contact me or visit the NCARK booth in Columbia. We refuse to sit idle and watch our rights be taken away! Join Us & Help Protect Your Rights!

Dean Ripa and I are working on a way that members of NCARK can pool their resources to purchase a stock of AV that would cover many commonly kept exotics. This would be a way of making a statement that we are serious about what we do and are ready to take responsibility for it. It would create a vital safety net for those who participate at a very reasonable and affordable cost. This collective would also remove the objection by many Zoo's that bites to private keepers endanger their personal by depleting their AV supply. To find out more you can contact me or visit the NCARK booth in Columbia. Let us know if you would like to get involved. Join Us & Help Protect Your Rights!

Haven't been here in a while. Thought I'd check up on the upcoming Columbia show since I'll be a vendor there. Dang, Cathy. There is one impressive list of vendors that are going to be there. Finally, A SC show that really rocks! I can hardly wait.

I will be there and on time as long as I don't run into the problems I had the last go around.(Hope everyone has un-fouled spark plugs.) I am looking forward to it; and I promise I'll be on my best behavior. Cathy, am I still going to be the armed security? Or just the entertainment?

I'd have to agree here! It was a phenomenal show. Well organized, many buyers, and lots of vendors and speakers.

Great Job guys!

Great Show!

I couldn't agree more. The show was awesome and brought the Columbia venue back to the caliber it once was in it's glory days. Not to mention the quality of animals that were on display or offered for sale. I did not see one animal that was in questionable health. Nor did I see one dead animal other than the frozen feeders! It was a nice change and the Repticon team and staff( Billy, Shirley, Danny, Cathy, Jason, Monica, and others) should be applauded for a job well done. I left with ( rather my daughter left with) 1.0 an exceptionally beautiful pastel beardie dragon from Cricket's Critters, 1.0
normal corn neonate from Danny and Cathy, and lastly a 0.1 pregnant emperor scorpion from Bay Reptiles. Thanks to everyone for the great purchases and thanks to all who made the show possible. Can't wait till next time.

I have to agree also.....this was our first Repticon show we vended at and you can be sure that we will vend at others. Thank you Cathy for all the work...and putting up with me hunting you down constantly over badges.

Niki

Todd,
I saw that bearded your daughter got. It was gorgeous (of course all of cricket's beardies and chams are). I thought it went exceptionally well. I WISH there had been some more turtle tortoise buyers...but hey...i bought so much stuff (racks, animals etc) and only left $200 down from when I came. Not bad since i spent a ton of money.

If i learned one thing, it is to bring 200 lbs of Mazuri Tortoise Diet to the next show I do. This was my first show vending and it was great. Thanks cathy for the help!

Thanks to everyone for a great show!

Thanks Hunter...

Yes, I was very pleased to say the least at the quality of the beardie I got from Cricket. I don't know if I got to meet you or not. I am however interested in getting a baby Spur thigh around Christmas for my daughter. Let me know if you Can help me with that. The poor thing she has only got a emperor scorpion, beardie, ball python, and corn snake to play with in her collection not to mention my retic and bullsnake.
