In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Scott of ScottsSerpent is Certainly a Crook

Whatever distaste members here have at seeing Scott still as a member, advertiser, etc., as well as the policies of Fauna that allow him to stay, lets not forget that Fauna was successful in exposing a bad vendor to a potential buyer. My sympathies to the buyer for getting burned, who we all thank for bringing his experience here, but he acknowledged that he bought "against his better judgement" after researching Fauna. Many others undoubtedly see the same info, and don't buy ........ no bad transaction, no "bad guy" thread, but in such "no transaction" events, Fauna worked at its best!

At the same time, it is not inconceivable that Fauna could ban folks such as Scott Sanchez. It may not be practical, but KS has a policy in place with the "3 unresolved complaints rule". That requires a staff to administer, and KS does charge fees to post there, thus creating a fund to bankroll such. I do not think that is at all practical here, unless a volunteer committee could be fielded.

I'm going to cry

I just read all of the posts and I have been mailing him payments on the albino redtail boa.. I have all the proof in my emails.. I have talked with him on the phone.. What do I do I gave him $1,150 so far with owed $330. I'm going to be sick... I always wanted a albino redtail and finally saved enough for one since I have 3 kids and a wife and now I am going to be sick. He told me that the people have lied about him...I guess I am out and I bought a new cage and everything... Well guess I should not trust anyone since this is the 2nd time I got ripped off in animal deals... THere ain't one trustable person out there...

Doesn't look good Clay :(

I was ripped off last year (also on 2cats/one purchase) trusting the seller cost me $2400 BUT I have purchased online since and had no problems, I'm just more cautious now.
I hope you can get your money back or get your snake.

File a report with the postal inspectors. By shipping an empty box, and it can be proven it was empty by the weight, he committed mail fraud.

That would work if all that was expected in the box was a refund check. But if there was any implication that he was supposed to actually send the snake that way, they will not prosecute a fraud case since shipping snakes USPS is a crime.

Clay, you're not actually ripped off yet. My advice would be to stay off this thread until you can see where you're headed with Scott. There will be plenty of time to praise, or blast, Scott when the time comes.

Are you certain of this or is it a guess?

Why wouldn't the prosecute? Fraud is fraud. Just because he didn't ship the snake, which he apparently said he was, is no reason to ASSume no fraud charges would be filed for not shipping the snake and keeping the payment for said snake.

Is there case law example available?

Clay,

Postal Money order(s)? If yes, the Post Office may be of some assistance if the time comes that you do not get what you have been paying for.
Actually, if he has been using the US mail to to send money orders of any variety then it is still technically mail fraud. The problem is that until the snake is paid in full Sanchez can (legitimately) claim that he has no obligation to ship anything. Unless there is a method to cancel the order, which I doubt, he also can decline to make a refund.

This is a tough case. I doubt that I would make the last $330 in payments unless I was working with the authorities and knew they would prosecute him if and when he failed to send the animal. Even then...

Sorry, but you are way off base with that statement and absolutely wrong. How the snake was supposed to be shipped has absolutely nothing to do with the fact he took money and shipped nothing but an empty box. How the snake was going to be shipped is irrelevant as it never was and was never going to be. Since he used the USPS to further his crime, he provided excellent evidence, and elevated the crime from a simple theft to mail fraud.

Law Enforcement and Prosecutors are not in the habit of punishing crime victims for what they might have done.

Dennis has the gist of it, all that matters is that Scott shipped an empty box not how it was shipped. He reason for doing this was obviously to keep paypal from going after him ..

Scott has shown over and over that he'll rip people off and from the looks of things will do so again in the future.. Randy

Question

Since it HAS BEEN proven that ScottsSerpents continue to scam people. And if Fauna is still going to run his ads.Why doesnt Fauna put a "disclaimer"or a warning right next to his ad ? In case people miss the BOI thread.

For the exact same reasons Rich has alreadt stated in this thread.

As for actual business transactions, unless we personally have dealt with such a person, everything posted here concerning "bad guy" or "good guy" is strictly hearsay.

Just wondering if they should send their complaints directly to the administrator of the site rather than the BOI. With other sites that's the way it is done. Seems to me since this site has the BOI members that get scammed think they are done when they put it here. What they really should be doing is complaining directly to Rich.

Maybe I'm missing your point here, Kevin....but what good will complaining to Rich do? He has already stated that he isn't going to ban people. At least when it is posted on the BOI, people have the opportunity to look and see what kind of history that person has.....and if they choose to do business with a known "bad guy" anyway, well..... :shrug01:

Cathy, my point is that he is not banning people based on what is put into the BOI it is consider hearsay by him. Customer complaints directly to him are not hearsay. Rich can choose to believe them or not but they are direct from the complainant. In other sites, and most businesses customer complaints are enough to spur the powers that be into action. Why should Fauna members get penalized because they have a forum like the BOI to air complaints. In other sites the only avenue they have is direct to the owners. Is Rich saying that if Chris Johnson put ads up for hets he would run them?

Yes. I believe that he would.

Cathy,
You of all people should understand Kevin's point. When I used the BOI to check out Chris Johnson all I could find was glowing praise of his animals and his integrity. And we all know what that was worth. Even months after I exposed him for the scammer that he is; Fauna still had him listed as a Good Guy. Anyone looking then would see a good guy certificate and presume it meant something in his case. I think Rich does have some responsibility as owner of this site to monitor it for scammers. As far as hearsay goes, "Where there's smoke, there's fire". :shrug01:
