Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

After nearly 2 weeks of negotiating, checking references, getting pictures, etc. I came to the conclusion Sean was a good guy WRONG. After we made a deal I sent him partial payment for some tortoises and he was to ship them and upon receipt of the torts I was to pay the balance. He now has my money and is requesting more to pay for microchipping the torts which he says is required by U.S. fish and wildlife. This guy has an elaborate setup for his scam as I checked refs. in U.K., Canada and the U.S.. Although he is still negotiating with me about this I feel I have been scammed and scammed by a network of scammers. BEWARE OF THIS SELLER.
 
Out of curiosity what made you decide to buy from somone in the UK?
 
I was stationed in the U.K. while in the Navy and have purchased many things from the U.K. I thought I had done due diligence with this guy and as there are quite a few tortoise enthusiast in the U.K. I thought it was ok. I have also purchased torts from other countries but I guess in this instance hes really good or I came down with a bad case of the stupids or a combination thereof.
 
Has this guy shipped overseas before? Perhaps he wasn't aware of the extra requirements?

Not saying that his possible ignorance makes the whole thing any better, but maybe if that's the case, "scammer" is a bit of a strong word?

You say you're still negotiating....most outright scammers don't "negotiate".....has he offered you a refund, or what "terms" is he offering?

I don't know this guy.....I'm just curious. I hate to see people "jump the gun" on a deal they think has gone bad. ;)
 
Well it is good you have contacts out there. I did not know the tortoise was popular in the UK. Thanks for the heads up on this guy, good luck, hopefully things will be resolved. Do you have anyway of contacting th local authorities there? I know it is tough being so far away, but they may look into him if you have enough references to back up that he is ripping people off.
 
He wants more money to cover the cost of microchipping the torts which he says the U.S. fish and wildlife service requires at a cost of $30.00 per tort. he also says they have been chipped are in U.S. fish and wildlife custody until he pays them. I will be in contact with fish and wildlife service Tuesday to verify but things are not looking good. If indeed he turns out not to be a scammer I will apologize and make things right but he has enough of my money to cover to the costs and I have offered to pay the extra but only upon delivery of the torts. as was our agreement before he asked for the extra money.

Ask him for his exact address and phone # in the UK, then give him a call. If he is legit he will not mind doing so and a phone call to Europe is not that expensive considering how much you are willling to invest. From what he is saying the tortoises are already here in U.S. F&W custody, right? Since when is the F&W microchipping tortoises in the U.S.?

He just offered the same tortoises he sold me to a friend of mine for about a third of our agreed on price I guess he is a nice guy since hes not charging as much as he was not to greedy sooner or later they'll be free. Just one more clue that Sean is a BAD GUY , SCAMMER and SOMEONE TO STAY AWAY FROM. Some life lessons are not cheap.

Sean Thomas offered me stars and aldabras also a couple of weeks ago.
I told him that I would not send money in advance, but I had a friend in UK and we could work through him. He told me he would take 60 % percent of the money in advance but he never agreed on working with my friend, so I passed. One other thing he wanted to sell me aldabras for $ 100.00 would be great but way to good to be true.

Since I refused to send anymore money he has stopped negotiating period, will not answer emails, pretends he cannot hear when I call all he wanted was more money, thats the only reason he continued to negotiate. I am reporting him to authorities here and in the U.K. and all internet fraud sites. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Reporting him to the UK will do no good, he isn't there. I just checked and he registered on this site with a Nigerian IP address. He has been banned.
 
Oh man, imagine that.......a Nigerian IP address.

Looks like a lesson you paid for, Chaz...sorry to hear.
