My second clutch (the two sunglow mots, het and poss het amel) didn't go quite as smoothly as the first one with my amel.
I checked on Crush yesterday morning, because I saw eggs in the lay-box, through the plastic side. I popped open the lid, she slithered out, and... there were eight eggs in box, but she was CLEARLY not done laying and had several eggs left in her. She did not appear to be in distress, no symptoms of being egg-bound, just interrupted. I quickly pulled the eggs and left her alone. She went back in the box a couple hours later. Two of the eggs had small 'windows'.
I checked on her this morning and she was totally done, no retained eggs to the eye or palpating her. Eight more eggs were in the laybox for a total of 16.
But, there are a couple weird things with the eggs (aside from them being a little undercalcified) All of them candle fertile and were marked properly 'up'.
1) NONE of them were stuck together, they were all loose.
2) The first eight were very long and skinny (left side in the photos), and have remained so; the second eight are all much fatter and rounder (right side)
So what's the deal? What are the odds I'll get any viable hatchlings out of weird eggs like these? What causes this? Her care was the exact same as my other female, why are their clutches so different?
