Sentence commuted in racially charged shooting

The article says the shooting occured at the foot of the driveway, the term foot leaves alot of vagueness as to where exactly the foot is. The way I interpret it is at the end, such as the foot of the bed. I could be mistaken, and for arguments sake lets say the foot of the driveway is at the end closest to the house.

How far is the average driveway from the front door of ones home? Definitely more then 3".

The lack of anything mentioning the mob threatening to burn down/destroy the Whites home tells me it was never said, as it would have been a key component to the defense, or at the very least justification for the Governor to commute the sentence.



The reason to cower in your own home is because unjustified man slaughter to prevent property damage awaiting law enforcement to arrive, in most states IS the legal way to go about things. People can feel all the right in the world to go outside and shoot a perpetrator but if the laws aren't written to allow such behavior it is a crime and reason justified or not doesn't lessen that fact. If someone lives in a location where they do not agree with the laws they should move, or at the very least try to change said laws.

Taking the fire arm outside to confront the mob was the wrong decision to make, and the eventual death of one of the mob whether Whites intentions when he brandished the fire arm was a consequence that deserved punishment. The appropriate length of said punishment is something that is best left to those who have had all details provided for them, as in a courthouse with appropriate representatives for both sides. From what I've gathered his sentence falls in line with manslaughter (varying from 12 months to 5+ years depending on the details).

I find this situation unfortunate, as it appears to have been a tragedy that should have and likely could have been avoided, and the lack of information provided to the public is allowing others (all of us) to form opinions on only part of the story and making it a more heated discussion then it should be.

Forgive me but no where on the article does it say that anyone was on a porch or anywhere close to the home to give even a remote indication the teens were coming into or even near the house.

And I don't know about back east but here a driveway is nowhere near the front porch so the shooter would have had to walk a ways before getting near those kids. Also "the foot of the driveway" by all definitions is the end or close to the end of the driveway. Again that generally is quite a distance from someone's front door. So the shooter came out of his home with a gun, walked off his front porch, down his driveway (at least half way) then shot a kid. Regardless of what that kid was doing, that to me, tells a lot. And in ANY case of a killing calls to police are considered prime evidence and I find it strangely odd that evidence or it's existence or lack there of was not mentioned. Which also by all intents and purposes indicates also that the police were not even called.

Mr White's son also seems to be missing from the story after waking his dad up. Actually that to me by Mr White's own testimony has me questioning. Mr White's son woke him up to tell him the kids were on the way. So at that point were the police called??? Not even to give a heads up to say that threats were made against his son??? Nope. Doesn't appear that way. And gee wouldn't a car load of drunken teenagers wouldn't be something police would be interested in let alone them coming to perform assault and battery on another teen????

All the teens involved yes should have been punished at the very least for DUI and possibly for assault and battery. But no where does it say they weren't either.

And after doing some research on this to get as many details as I could before I continued. The police were never called and this 17 year old kid was shot IN THE HEAD! Mr White is 54 years old and by the photos not a small man.

I'm sorry. A grown man, fearing for his family, doesn't call police, walks out of his home to face drunken teenagers with a gun, walks off his porch potentially down his driveway then somehow shoots a drunk 17 year old kid in the head and only serves five months in prison. Serving five months is BS accidental or not.

Again ....................... this IS NOT about race. I'd be saying the same exact thing if races were switched.

The details are this. Mr Whites son, Aaron was at a party hanging out and got into an altercation with other party goers because of rumors that White's son had made threats to harm a girl at the party which were untrue but Aaron was ejected from the party anyway. The drunk teens then called Aaron on his cell phone stating they were on the way to fight with him. Aaron wakes his dad up and then confronts the drunk teens at then "foot of the driveway" and the gun goes off shooting Daniel Cicciaro in the head. Now mind you the gun was 3 inches from Daniel Cicciaro's head when it went off and Mr White is quoted as saying "He claimed his pistol fired accidentally when Cicciaro lunged for it." So a drunk 17 year old is going to be shot in the head by lunging for a gun???

These are the facts of the case. And probably why people are so outraged by it. It's not about race it's about a 54 year old man only spending 5 months in prison for fatally shooting a 17 year old drunk teenager.
