I've been hunting around for a pair of breeding cresties. I checked Kingsnake, the classifieds here, and e-mailed some other people about them. I was figuring I'd have to pay a few hundred dollars, but I knew that they would eventually pay for themselves. And then a stroke of luck happened...
I was contacted by the guy who is helping me with my PDF tank. He has numerous frog tanks as well as salamanders, toads, and spear-point leaf geckos. He offered me his breeding trio that is currently producing eggs for...drumroll please...free. I was ecstatic, of course I'll take him up on his offer, but I'll also offer him money as well (for all of the help he has given me there is no way I'd just mooch a trio). I find it amazing that he was one person I did not contact about it, and he was debating about asking me since he knew I had 5 already and space is limited.
It's amazing how things go, and now I have my cresties handed to me on a silver platter. Then I realized that they are producing eggs, so I should get all of my things in line before I get them. I plan on using Hatchright so I don't have to worry about perlite/water or vermiculite/water ratios. Has anyone used coco fiber for incubation, and should I use coco fiber for the laybox or should I use peat moss? I have coco fiber already, so if I can use that safely and just as easily as other things I will, otherwise I'll buy something else.
