In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Server sluggishness......

It is what it is, but certainly not what it was.

Yesterday (Sunday, April 1) and today, the servers just seem rather sluggish to me. Yesterday it cleared up later on in the afternoon, but today early it appears to be back again.

One of my hosting clients notified me that he was having the same problem, so it obviously wasn't just my ISP or computer.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, please state what part of the country you are located in, as it is possible it may be a server somewhere between the data center where the servers reside and the local ISPs that both myself and the hosting client mentioned above are located.

I have alerted the data center personnel but they seem to think it is external to the data center. If any of you ARE having this slowness problem and know how to run a traceroute (to faunaclassifieds.com), please do so and post the results here.

Thanks.

I'm in CT, Rich, and things were a little slow yesterday, but much slower today.

Rich there are trace route sites that you can ping your IP or domain(better to ping an IP)

But I can Ping from the east coast, Ohio and Texas if you want.

Gary,

Actually I use a handy little utility by Ipswitch called WS_ping pro to do traceroutes and other little network testing. But anyone can do this from their own desktop with Windows. Simply go to the RUN command from the Start menu (type in command.com), and once you have the familiar DOS prompt, type in "tracert faunaclassifieds.com" (or "tracert 209.59.140.201"). You will need to capture the data lines as a graphics image, however.

The last couple of days the server slowness (both of my servers, so it is apparently not limited to a single box) seemed to be late morning to early afternoon. So if you don't mind, if you log in here and see things running at a snail's pace, please do a traceroute for me from different sources to see if anything can be pinpointed that way.

Thanks.

I hadn't noticed it until just a bit ago, but I'm definitely seeing things slowing to a crawl right now.

Seems fine right now. This weekend and part of last week were bad. All of the hangs up I experienced were during the connection to faunaads. Just about everytime it would hang, I would have to close my browser and start over to clear the hang.

It's spring break. The spammers or spam bots are out in force. I bet a lot of websites are experiencing some slow down due to the high volume of spam being sent through the net. Normally I get about 10-15 spams a day on my work email, but yesterday for example I had well over 50 in a 6 hour period.

Getting real sluggish right now and here is a new trace route. That one Washington server is slowing every thing down.http://www.faunaclassifieds.com

I don't understand what Dennis just posted (not tech savy) but I'm in So Cal and I've had problems. It seems fine right now~ but it was a real problem yesterday~

Also~ don't know if it could be at all related~ maybe this "washington server" Dennis mentions~ but another popular reptile site I run classifieds on~ yesterday and today~ everytime I try to update my classified ad my computer lags until it locks up the entire computer and I have to reboot it to do anything at all on any web site anywhere.
