    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Several questions from for 1st time Bull owner

Planning on picking up my first bull snake. Been reading a lot but wanted to ask the group a couple of questions:
Substrate
  • Aspen seems to be a popular choice, with Cypress mulch another frequently mentioned option - any one have experience / thoughts on Megazorb? (Or another substrate not listed here?)
Heating
  • I was planning daytime basking lamp day: 77 - 84 range (F). and a nighttime heating pad in the 67 - 74 range (F). Are these good targets?
  • Was planning both a daytime basking lamp and nighttime heat pad - can these be at the same end of the tank? (Heat always on one side, the same side, and cooler always on the opposite side?) Or is it best to have them split - basking lamp at one end (on during the day) and the heat pad at the other end (on during the night?)
Humidity
  • My area has an average humidity of 69-70% humidity. And can get higher in the winter (PNW) - I'm hoping the enclosure temperature will help bring this down, but how sensitive are Bull snakes to humidity? Is this something I do need to closely monitor and manage?
