    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Shane Bunek - INQUIRY - (Bad Experience)

First of all I would like to apologize to Webslave and Shane, and the Fauna readers for not utilizing the search engine. Had I done so I would have found the one post on Shane and would have posted there in that appropriate thread. That was completely my fault.

Kelli, like I told you in the email, I usually only accept money orders, but I gave you the option to pay with Paypal if you paid the 3% fee. At that point you had the option of deciding that you did not want to buy from me and let things go, but you kept on pestering me. I tried to be a gentlemen, but I do not accept others telling me how to do business.

Shane, I was only informing you about the Pay Pal TOS and also that you could very well be breaking the law by asking for a surplus charge on a Pay Pal sale. You were NOT at all courteous in any of your emails after the initial one you sent which was your reply to my inquiry on your geckos. You say I should have let things go, however, you could stand to take some of your own advice couldn't you? You see, here is my first email:
"I appreciate the pictures. They geckos look great. I prefer not to send
money orders to people I do not know. I would rather use Pay Pal as it
offers a bit of protection for both parties. However, the fact that you want
to charge me 3% (less than $6.00) for using Pay Pal turns me off. That is
against their terms of servive (go read it). It is also illegal to do so in
many states. I am sure you will have no problems moving your geckos though.

That does not sound too unreasonable and guess what? I was stating facts. Do you want to dispute those facts Shane? I do not think they are disputable but if you know something different then feel free to post it.

As far as me pestering you, well, I don't really see how you can call it pestering. 1.)I sent you the initial email inquiring about the geckos and asking if you take Pay Pal. Hey, that's fine if that is how you choose to do things. I tend to think that Pay Pal is convenient for BOTH parties. I love it when people pay with Pay Pal. Anyway, I was simply letting you know that it is against Pay Pal TOS to charge a fee for using their services (does that even matter to you?), and also it is illegal to do so in many states. We (HISS) accept credit cards, but I do not charge my customers (it is against the law to do so) 1.9% or whatever it is when they choose to pay with a credit card. I consider it the cost of doing business, which BTW, I have been doing successfully for many years in the reptile trade.

Now how in the world you can call that pestering I do not know. After I sent you that email, you replied with your extremely rude email which is posted at the beginning of this thread.

If you want a war Kelli, you have one. I am not going to back down from you just because you are better known in the reptile industry than I am. Posting this message and attempting to ruin my reputation was WROUNG, and it simply will not succeed.

And personally I fell that you owe me an apology for that last email you sent me. I am pretty sure that will not happen, and that's ok.

I am not sure what you meant by that statement. It almost sounds like a threat but it doesn't bother me that much, which I am sure was your intention!

Also Shane, you may want to make sure you sign your real name when you post on the BOI and when you post ads. When you do not, it makes it seem as if you are hiding something. Take care...
 
When Kelli brought to your attention that a fee was illegal, rather than giving her a hard time about it, you could have been a bit more diplomatic, a bit more smarter than the next guy, but you ruffled your feathers and felt an encroachment into your life and the conduct you created

While I disagree with Jerry and Kelli on the severity of the paypal charges, take their advice on how to handle inquiries and subsequent emails like Kelli's. Frankly the appearence of your business came off wrong not from Kelli's original emails or her posting here but rather in your conduct back towards her. That gun you were playing with was loaded and you shot yourself it would seem.
 
Daniel, you must understand that

if this arbitrary fee is not stopped by people who attempt to take advantage of PayPal, Mastercard, etc. the following is what you can expect.

When we had the hurricane trilogy here in So. Fla. ATMs could not operate, so people had to resort to using credit cards for simple transactions. Some businesses attempted to add a fee for the use of the card knowing full well that cash was not available . This is illegal, and these businesses were brought to the attention of the attorney generals office. This Shane person had been made aware of the fact that not only was it a TOS violation of PayPal, but possibly illegal in the state as a crime! He had the option of resolving the problem but chose not to do so, in a manner that has left him wide open for some possible criminal violation due to his emails , if this gets pursued.

This has nothing to do with disagreements about severity. You may be right , its not a big deal when you look at the money involved, but if a serious disaster occurs, you cannot allow people to set up their own rules and regulations for overcharging customers becuause they want to use a card or service such as PayPal.

The only reason Shane attempted to get away with this increase was because he had done it in the past. More than likely the people who paid the fee probably did not realize that it was illegal. You cannot allow this to get out of hand. Today its reptiles, tomorrow it may be an auto payment or a mortgage payment, etc. These TOS are their for a reason !
 
Are you telling us that you now have

a change of heart because you had no idea about the TOS . Does this mean that you will never , ever attempt to charge people an illegal fee for using PayPal. If so, we saw your original reaction when Kelli first brought this to your attention. So whos kidding who.

Heres the real story. The reason people add a charge or a fee is to discourage the potential buyer from using the services. The reason should be obvious. Money orders or Postal money orders dont have to be deposited, and can be easily cashed at Banks and Post offices without being deposited as income . Thats what is behind these fees. It becomes obvious that Shane is not interested in a $ 3.00 fee when hegets postal money orders and does not have to declare his funds , because they are not being deposited.

The IRS would have a field day with this one.
Shane , Kelli does not need your apology, and to consider her scum, really shows the level of what once can expect from a 5 and 10 cent dealer as yourself.

Still not following rules Shane? FULL NAME is required for every post, otherwise they get deleted and leave gaps in the thread. I wouldn't want anyone to miss your words of insight and wisdom.....
 
Shane.... first of all, you have to put your FULL NAME on every post on the BOI or ALL your posts will be deleted in their entirety....

I also find it VERY ironic that you call Kelli and Jerry, "LOOSERS", when you can't even spell the word correctly!!....

Do you mean they aren't "wrapped" too tight, as in beeing "loose"??.... Or do you mean, "LOSER", like a guy that can't take simple criticism without going off the handle like a spoiled little child??....

You're right, however.... your answers speak VOLUMES!!....

Without your full name, your posts will be deleted. The easiest way to add it is throught the use CP under options. Then it will be in every post.
 
While you may go, this thread will live on in infamy for potential future customers to see and remark to themselves "Is this truly someone I want to do business with...?"

That last profanity laced post by Shane just cost him a $10 fine and suspension.

Thanks for bringing this guy to our attention Kelli. It still amazes me how fast the bad guys always self-destruct.
