    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've now read conflicting information regarding the use of a shed box. Some say that it should be placed on the cool side of the enclosure; others say warm (though both agree you can also place it somewhere in the middle of the temperature gradient). Where do you have your shed box?

Also, does the shed box double as a hide? i.e. do you need one hide on each side of the enclosure, PLUS the shed box, or does one of the hides double as the shed box?

I keep my shed boxes (humid hides) in the warm area of the enclosure...I personally think it is a better choice because the humid hide will naturally be a couple degrees cooler than the surrounding temperature (or at least anything wet in it will be). Humid hides are hides...but they do not count for the dry hide needs...they still need at least one dry hide in the cool and warm sides of the tank, plus the humid hide.

That pretty much says it all Stina.

The way it was explained to me (as to the reason to have it on the warm side) is that you want a HUMID hide...not merely a wet one. The extra heat on the warm side increases the humidity inside the hide.

Ditto! I keep the humid hide on the warm end and a dry ceramic hide on the cool end. My egg laying containers however gos on the cool side or about in the middle. Don’t want to cook the eggs.

His humid hide goes in the corner he sleeps in, which is on the warm side. He never uses his other one anymore, he likes being in the open I guess? I only ever see him in his humid hide when hes almost fully white and ready to shed. Strange gecko I have I think ;)

I also keep my humid hide on the warm side of the tank. Mine seem to love them :p and dont even use their dry hides. *shrug*

I place my "Humid Hide" in the Middle of the Temp Gradient. Also have a dry hide on the Hot side & there is a Hide on the Cool side. All of which My Leo uses. Although when I walk in front of her cage, there isn't much use for a hide as she is Begging me to take her out...
