    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i bought some mealworms and had taken a couple out of the fridge to get them be ready for the geckos to eat and it looks like one of the mealies shed and now appears different than the rest. is it still safe to feed this one to the geckos? (thanks everyone for being patient with my many questions. since i'm a newbie i want to make sure i do this right).

Mealies will shed even in the refrigerator. In what way does it look different?

they will molt or shed as they grow. i imagine you found one that was way lighter than the rest, almost white. if kept long enough youll find these little aliens that eventually turn into beetles. no worries. i havnt tried to feed the aliens and i doubt the leo would bother since they dont move unless bothered (plus theyre pretty hard bodied). i have seen my leos eat a couple beetles tho.

It'll be fine. After shedding they look white, but otherwise like a normal mealworm. After their final shed they look different, this is the pupa. When it hatches it will be a beetle. I've heard some will eat the pupae, but mine do not.

One of mine will eat the pupae. If not, you can throw them in with the crickets and they'll happily eat them. :p

That's completely normal and safe to feed to your geckos there, Lindsay. When an insect molts (sheds its exoskeleton) the new exoskeleton is almost always soft and pliable. Every seen white crickets? Same thing. Go ahead and feed that sucker to your leopard geckos, I'm sure they'll love it. It's akin to eating softshell crab! :)
