I have a breeding size female leo who is having problems shedding. She has been shedding for 2 days and has not pulled off any of her skin, This is her first problem with shedding. I recently put a male leo in with her to breed, this is the only change in habitat. She has access to a humid hide but she wont use it. I have 2 in the tank, one for each leo. Would it be safe to pull the skin off for her? could this be stress related from the new leo?

I pull loose skin off all the time! (on some I think they actualy like it)
What is the temp "in" the hide box?
If the temp isn't optimal in the box they will usualy go to where it it most comfortable.
If you have "belly" heat try moving the hide box directly over the heat, making sure it is moist in there.

my t giant had probs shedding, when he would shed his tail would bleed badly and it would hurt him badly. Give him a gladware hide box and keep the substrait moist. That solved Gieco's problem.

Sometimes when you have a male in with a female and she goes through a shed cycle, the male will be "pestering" her, trying to breed, and it can mess up her shed. Just make sure her humid hide is nice and damp. If she does not get all the skin off after a day you can soak her in a deli cup with wet paper towels for a few hours. If she still does not get all the skin off you can gently pull it off for her.

shed probs

I have a couple of geckos that seem to consistently have shed problems regardless of having a humid hide. It is perfectly OK to 'peel' the dead skin off, and like Overton said.. they actually seem to like it! What I do for the ones that have stubborn skin adhering to feet is similar to turtlebuyer, but I put about 1/2-1 inch of warm water in a plastic container and let the gecko stand in it with the lid on for 10-15 minutes. It will get all steamy in there, and will help the dead skin become soft enough to remove.

It seems like I'm forever checking leos and pulling stuck skin off toes!! LOL!! (Ok, so I'm exaggerating a little! LOL!)

Seriously though, I do have one or two that need a little help with approximately every other shed. In fact, I have one that needs help with her toes and one of her eyes. Sometimes they just need a little help.

Just be careful...if something is really hung-to, you can easily tear their skin. Before you start to peel, you MUST make sure the area has been moistened well.

thanks guys I put her in a container with warm water and she soon started to pull the skin off by herself:)
