In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Shelby Mershon

The temperature outside the box at the time of shipping means nothing in this case. The hand warmers are what the problem is. They get too hot right away and then cool down quickly. They cook animals and then if the snake does not die from the intense heat, it will freeze to death when the heat stops working halfway through shipping. They are not suitable for shipping any animal, any time of the year.

There should be no discussion on this. The wrong heat packs were used. This is why the snake died. It doesn't matter where they were in the box. There is no way to justify the DOA in any way other than shipper neglect.
Exactly!40 hours heat packs, designed specifically for shipping animals are the industry standard for a reason.

In the end the snake was packed improperly, 40 hour heats packs were designed for shipping animals, not handwarmers.. handwarmers are for when you are out hunting, fishing, or camping and to heat a small part of your body quickly. i haven't used them but for goodness sakes, they sale them at the register with the rest of the IMPULSE buys like candy. In that case the seller is responsible for replacing or refunding the price of the snake. I mean really. I put off shipping myself in winter because i didn't have 40 hour heat packs for PA or AL. AL is the next state over and their temps varied mine by 20 degrees.

We have threads upon threads about using heat packs in the winter time and what kind of heat packs should be used and when. If in doubt ask or look it up, or as my mom says, if in doubt, DON'T DO IT!

That is my 2 cents anyways.

In the first post on this thread, in one of the emails the seller states "A heat pack was taped to each end of the box and asmall heat pack was taped to the lid."

Morgan, I hope he sees the error of this and makes it right for you.

:ack2: So much for retreat!

I'd just like to give an update. Shelby called me tonight to discuss the options we had. I opted for a refund for the animal, and I should be receiving that in the mail early next week. I will also post when the the whole transaction is completely done with. I think we both agreed that it's important for this to be concluded.

AWESOME! Good for you Morgan. I'm glad he came to his senses... OR realized he was going to lose a lot of sales and be an embarrassment to the industry, one of the two.lol.

I'm very impressed with how calmly you presented yourself throughout this whole ordeal Morgan. In my opinion it shows a lot about someone's character when they can remain calm and optimistic going through something like this. Hopefully Shelby comes through with the refund in a realistic amount of time. You've waited long enough for your resolution!

:iagree:

Well said! It's good to see a bad guy thread actually come to a decent solution! It seems like it doesn't happen all that often.

Well I appreciate the communities response to this issue. I think you guys had a little to do with this problem coming to a swift resolution. Like I told Shelby on the phone I felt like I really had no choice but to bring this out into the public. But once it it's totally resolved would be happy to end this thread with a happy ending. I'm grateful to the BOI. I hope my next post is the happy conclusion this deserves!

After reading this, I am so sorry for what happened to that snake, Morgan. I would be heartbroken. All I can say is I am shocked that someone shipped an animal that way, and I am so thankful that up to this point so far I have never had to deal with someone that sent a snake in such horrible conditions.

Even as a newbie, starting out years ago, not really being familiar with much in the ways of shipping, I ALWAYS checked weather temps at the start point, mid point, and destination. If I was the seller OR buyer. I ALWAYS packed with proper equipment and supplies. I don't know how people don't think this is a standard? It shocks me that people think they can skimp like this when dealing with shipments in extreme hot or cold weather, or even normal weather. I wouldn't EVER dream of doing something like that.

Again, It's so sad. :( I hope things truly do get resolved for you.

I just wanted to give a quick update. Yesterday I did receive a refund check from Shelby. I deposited but it will take a bit to clear. I'm happy that he put forth an effort to come to terms with this whole transaction. I again appreciate everyones replies to this thread and the feedback to the situation.
Thanks!
