    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just caught this little girl trying to cross the road down the street from my home at 11:30, her carapace was just under 3 feet and weighed close to 50lbs. Deffenitly one of the biggest common snappers I've seen I guesstimated she was around 20 years old.

Seems a little late for eggs - hope you told her she's not supposed to be wandering around like that.
Snappers are the only turtles I really like. (includes alligator snappers, but I prefer the regular ones)
 
The largest recorded in CT had a carapace length of 17.51 inches, I had a a tape measure in my truck and I measured hers at just about 22 inches. I may have overestimated a bit in my original post lol.

I thought of that too, I looked up the laying season and some post said late August to early September so maybe???

I don't remember - I haven't grabbed a wandering snapping turtle in a long time. People thought I was nuts with one of them - I kept her in a big cattle trough, and (after several weeks) I would hand feed her. She would take rat pinks very gently from my fingers; but if I offered something on tongs, she would chomp it.
She was small in comparison to that girl - 32 lbs
 
that is a bigun...lol...I keep 1 in my class...had it since it was a baby...its pretty big right now...
