    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Some will recall that I lost one adult female couperi this spring, due to egg binding. She laid 5 eggs before she seized up, and later died. Of those 5, only 1 egg made it full term. After 113 days of constant vigilance, and worry, I found this lil nipper. So even though I lost a beautiful girl,...I learned a some valuable lessons along the way. When I found this one in the egg box today, I'll have to admit my eyes welled up, and I almost lost it. I have not yet tried to sex this one, but just looking at it, I think it's female. Maybe she really is back. I sure hope so!

Wow what a great accomplishment. Not many can say they have reproduced one one of these bad boys. Congratulations!!! You must be a very proud papa. Glad you got your back. I hope the rest all pip soon. Still no sign of life from mine. Is there any way to get a hint, that all is still good in there???
 
I am sorry for your loss but at least she pulled through long enough to leave you with a beautiful new life to help ease you through it.
 
Hi Tony!

I was just looking at the pic of your baby & I have a question. Is it the angle of the pic or does she have a oddly shaped tail? It looks like the tail is rather compressed below the cloaca rather than tapered.
I had a girl like that and she turned out to be a dwarf. At 3 years old she was barely 3' long, but was as heavy as a 5-6 footer.

Hmmm,....ya know, you may have a point there. Just wear a hat and nobody will notice. LoL But seriously, I went in there and pulled her out, and gave a closer look. And I think you may be right. Her tail has a kink at the cloaca, and it does taper off rather abruptly at that point. I have no idea whats going on yet, but due to your sharp eye, I will be watching her very closely. And tomorrow I'll be checking the rest very closely as well. Although stuff like that tends to work itself out with age, and growth, but we'll see. I need to wear my dawgawn glasses, but they're a real pain. Good call though, thanks.

BAD news

As I'm writing this I am not a happy camper. I just had this lil gal out, and I noticed something that really bugs me. And I have no idea what is going on.

She now displays a spinal kink about a third of the way down from her head. And a couple weeks ago I noticed a bump protruding from the side of her cloaca. I just don't get it. Where did these come from?

She seems fine otherwise. She is feeding on pinks now, and everything else appears on track. Her tail grabs my fingers whenever I pick her up. And her color, especially belly, and throat are the best in the whole batch.

So now I'm asking myself how could I have missed that, or could I? Could she have a tumor, or some kind of disease, or genetic disorder? Or could she have developed a spinal kink after hatch? I am dumbfounded, worried, and sad now. I don't know what to do, except keep feeding her, and keep an eye on her I guess. I can't get a pic, because it's just too difficult to capture that kind of detail, although I tried.
