In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Shipnex (anyone used them?)

Well now you know, its against the law what the company is doing. Move to SYR or get your own UPS/FedEx account and help the industry

You keep saying it's against the law. What law are you referring to?
FedEx can say no shipping of golf clubs. If I ship one and they find it all they can do is not allow me to use their shipping services. You don't get hit with a criminal charge.

Well for one, Shipnex is not authorized to resell labels, then they dont enforce the shipment of reptiles, so you have already engaged in illegal activities there, and FedEx can be bigger ass's and get you for shipping the reptiles against their TOS and go further if they wanted

In order to ship through an unapproved source you would have to not label the box. This breaks the law because it's a violation of the Lacey Act. The shipping companies never take it that far, but they could.

Robyn,

Just a couple of questions in regards to SYR.

1) When do you expect prices to come down using your service?

2) Does it look like UPS could be a potential provider again or will FedEx be the only provider from here on out?

Sorry if this seems redundant but it has been years since the initial UPS fallout.

If shipnex themselves are saying don't do it (as they have in a prior post), that's a pretty good sign to just not do it. If UPS doesnt want them to ship animals and they find out, UPS can intercept or return packages. Imagine the problem that would be caused if native protected wildlife was 'returned to sender', and technically thats Shipnex, and they are in NY. I for one will be using SYR in the future, cause that alone is pretty scary.

Another scary scenario is if someone uses them to ship a Burmese python or any other in state transaction regarding a restricted animal. If ups returns to sender it will go to the shipnex account address, potentially crossing state lines automatically.

Everyone starts off at a base and the more you ship the better your rates gets, goes the same with any shipping company.

All rates change daily due to gas prices and holidays

Our rates start at 20% off the FedEx retail rate, and can be adjusted according to volume. Contact me directly to discuss rates and service, I am happy to help.

UPS- they are still a big NO on snakes (including non-venomous) and that isn't likely to change. Snakes account for a large part of the reptile shipping business. While you can arrange to ship geckos and lizards with UPS, they specifically do NOT support reptile shipping as a whole, therefore in my opinion they don't deserve the support of any reptile shipper.

FedEx has created a Live Reptile Certification program, and they fully support reptile shipping. They have worked with us to create a service that meets the needs of the neophyte shipper in particular (with packaging supplies, knowledge and support). That is the kind of commitment I wanted to see from UPS, but never did. I'm glad to have FedEx on our side.

As for ShipNex and NexShip, they are the same company. One is the official company name, one is the name of the website. They have a number of other okey-doke "cheapship.com" sites as well. All lead to ShipNex.

Robyn, First I agree Nexship does not have FedEx approval to ship reptiles but, they are not there to police and monitor what people are shipping. They are only reselling labels which is what you are doing. The only way they can shut an acct down or find out animals are being shipped using there labels is if FedEx intercepts a box containing animals and notifies the acct holder in this case Nexship. So to make them out as demons I am not sure that's fair. They are clearly stating don't ship live animals with us. They are not promoting it.
If someone uses your service and they print a label but use that label to ship a bundle of Pot you can not really help that. You do the best you can to monitor shippers and shipments but, really you can only go so far.
Also, I find it very hard to believe that Fed ex is not aware of or has not approved Nexship in some way to be an authorized re-seller of there product. They are probably creating 10,000+ labels a day across the world and scheduling thousands of pic ups and each pick up is at a different address. How could fedex not know... That is a HUGE red flag in itself...maybe I am missing something but that is my take.

well said. only ship via shipnex if you want to save a ton on shipping and pass the savings on to your customers.

The next quote is a good reason not do it.

You think this can't happen? It used to happen regularly before Fedex approved people for Snake shipping. It happened to me personally. Your snake would be lost in NY somewhere. And you don't save a ton. You save a couple bucks. Why not do it right instead of taking a chance?

years ago there was no legal way to ship snakes but guess what, they got shipped anyway. gasp! i can ship a package from AL to CA for $25 that would cost $60 via fed ex. that's less than half price as shipnex prices usually are. and as far as the legalities go it's technically illegal to roll through a stop sign, spit on the side walk, tie your horse to a fire hydrant, etc.... you see where i'm going with this. if ship your reptiles and reptiles express want to corner the reptile shipping biz they will have to become competitive with shipnex, it's that simple.

Yep, I see where you're going. You'll do anything to save a little money. If these are your ethics, what else will you do? A big red flag to never deal with you.

I agree. Ridiculous to endanger your animal and our hobby and businesses! What about ethics and doing things above board? Most customers if not all understand shipping costs and if they want your specific animal they will pay the normal going rate using FedEx and an approved company such as RE or SYR.

cindy and jeff, you guys can keep getting gouged if you want. but me and my customers appreciate fair shipping prices and shipnex provides just that.

Until one of your shipments get lost and you're customer no longer appreciates the money they saved. Then you end up with a BOI thread with a big red X next to your name. There are no shortage of breeders and deals who choose to stress saving money and cheap prices, it doesn't necessarily give you a leg up (especially with people who have been around the hobby for a while). And, yes, most of these guys have plenty of those red X threads I mentioned. I'd list some of the well known ones I know of, but it would be off topic.

He will be out the animal, he will have to refund his customer shipping and the price of the animal they paid as well, plus as you said above.
Then the real kicker is that it is ILLEGAL!! Yeah, some people such as yourself, do it the wrong way and get by, but for how long and at whose expense? The animal, your customer, your reputation and possibly my ability to continue to ship animals legally! Do you want shipping shut down as a whole for the reptile industry? That is what you and people with your mentality are risking!
Those of us who care about our animals and our hobby/business will do things the correct way to protect our animals, our reputation and the industry.
