In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

 Due to Down Sizing, DHL has cut services to a large portion of thier service areas. Now instead of delivering the packages themselves, they give them to the most unreliable company in the world: The United States Postal Service and it takes twice as long for the items to be delivered. You will be better off shipping directly with the USPS at a much cheaper price.

In addition, thier services are misleading. Thier Express Service may say 12:00 Noon and the actual delivery time is by 5:00 PM.

1) Do you have any proof of this? An article maybe?

2) It is illegal to ship snakes via USPS and they do not guarantee overnight delivery.

I'm e-mailing my DHL rep to see what she has to say about it. :)

Ahhh, I see. So it doesn't effect me at all (or anyone else for that matter as long as they select the correct shipping method). Don't get the point of this post then. About to cause a panic for no reason. ;)

Agreed. It sounds like someone tried going cheap on shipping and was not happy with the results. :shootfoot

I looked and USPS Express guarantees next day delivery.

If you are in the post office, in small print underneath the Express service it says "Next day service not guaranteed to all areas." Express packages are only guaranteed by USPS based on area...Say you're in area A and directly around you is areas B, C and D...But around B, C and D is E, F and G...They will guarantee B, C and D...But no E, F and G.

At least that's how it was years ago when I looked into USPS shipping. Haven't been in a PO for a LONG time. :shrug01:

At that, USPS deliveries can be made as late as 5pm...Why would you want the animals an extra 5-7 hours in transit?

Steph...Can you ship snakes via DHL. if so has shipping through them worked well?

I just want to offer as many shipping methods as I can to my customers. Right now I only offer Fed Ex.

Yes, I have a contract with DHL to ship snakes. I can get you in contact with my rep if you'd like, she can setup everything for you (she has done it for other people I've given her name to). I offer both FedEx and DHL because all areas are different. Some have great service from FedEx, some have great service from DHL. You can't make a blanket statement that one is worse then the other because each hub is different.

My Uncle tells me (he works for UPS) that he can get me a shipping contract with UPS if I want...Haven't gotten around to that yet but maybe I'll talk to him about it and see who he can put me into contact with.

DHL rep got back to me about this...

There is actually some truth to this email in that DHL has pulled out of some "rural" areas of the country. They do in fact hand these packages over to the local USPS center nearest the delivery point for final delivery with the local courier. This is a big change, and all the competition is having a hay day as a result. The bottom line is that the odds of you shipping to one of these zip codes is fairly remote, and if you use our site to ship to one of these zip codes you will get a pop up indicating that this is a remote area that will have service delays. At that point you can decide whether you would like to use DHL for that shipment.

That would be awesome! Thanks.

Ironic but I had just checked in with USPS today because someone interested in geckos suggested it shipped that way. When I typed in to get a quote it said it would be there by 12:00.

Gary, I sent Marianne your contact information. :)

Here's an example...
I'm in Pennsylvania and I can't ship USPS to California and have it arrive next day. My mailman also doesn't show up until between 2pm and 4pm, regardless of how the mail is to be delivered (Express, Priority, Standard).

What I am trying to say is that DHL is now handing over packages to the PO in those areas where they have discontinued service. I shipped some anoles on 07/21/08 and when I started tracking the package the next day it was going to take 8 days for it to arive at its destination in Kansas. I requested for the package to be returned to me next day as I was advised by DHL customer Service. I am still waiting for the package. It would have probably arrived sooner if I would have just used USPS at a cheaper price. DHL is reducing thier staff meaning that their service is getting worse. I have been shipping with them for many years now and have not had so many problems as i've had in the last few shipments.

I am considering FEDEX. Does anyone have any comments about them?

If you read post #12, my rep says if you use one of those zip codes that are no longer in their usual service area, the web site warns you about it.

Steph, if you don't mind - would you send me your reps contact info...or give her mine.
I'm always willing to consider options; but as you know, the information that I have gotten from DHL conflicts most of what your rep seems to have told you.

I'm not arguing DHL policy with you (been there, done that, lol), I just want somebody at DHL to tell me the same things you do.

Sent your info off to her.

If you think about it, if you call FedEx, they'll tell you conflicting information even though we have it on paper in forms of the shipping waiver. :shrug01:

I know Bobby ships through them (he in fact is who got me connected with the right people).

I understand that - and I know lots of people that ship via DHL. I also know some of the "creative" ways their reps have told them to label their packages. I'm not suggesting that yours has done this...in fact, your insistence that she knows what you ship & has assured you that everything is good is the reason I want to correspond with her.

Yeah, it was never suggested to me to mislabel them...But it wouldn't surprise me if some were doing that.

She did express a concern over the issue under discussion here with USPS and the fact that I should pay attention to the warnings since USPS doesn't ship snakes and a package could be returned or delayed further.
