    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

shipping frozen rodents?

How do you go about shipping feeder rodents? What carriers can you and can you not do it with? do you have to get approved like you do with live animals? how do you package the box? Or do you just write perishable on the box and ship it overnight or second day? anything else i shouls know about it?
 
There is a lot to shipping frozen rodents as far as packaging goes. You must have have insulation and dry ice to begin with. I would also suggest using water resistant boxes like the ones that are coated in wax. As far as shipping, most use 2nd day air and it is expensive because of the weight of the box. Some people ship through Greyhound as they allow boxes but it cant be too far away. Hope I helped a little!
 
If it's well insulated and with dry ice second day will do. As far as I know there's no restriction with the companies. One of the large rodent suppliers per your request will even label the box as "frozen meat".

i was just wondering because when you ship stuff with USPS they ask you if you have anything perishable, flamable and blah blah blah.
 
Well...I know you can ship frozen pheasants in hunting season...Now if you say frozen rats that might be a different story :)
 
You will have to check with them. The example I gave was using Fedex and UPS. The USPS has specifications as far as shipping of perishables.
 
And this is what the USPS says:

9.0 Perishables

9.1 Time Factor

Mailable perishable matter may be sent through the mail only if it can reach its destination in good condition in the normal transit time between the mailing and address points. Mailable perishable foods that do not rapidly decay or generate obnoxious odors in the mail may be sent at the mailer's risk.

9.4 Dead Wild Animals

The dead bodies, or parts thereof, of any wild animals, wild birds, or eggs are acceptable for mailing only when they are lawfully killed or taken, and their shipment is not prohibited by law of the United States or of the state, territory, district, or foreign country or subdivision thereof in which killed or taken or offered for shipment. Mailing of fresh game is also subject to these standards.

Dry ice is considered a (somewhat) hazardous material. Most all of the shipping companies will accept it, but you have to declare it and tell them how many pounds of dry ice is in your box. I think some of them will only allow a certain amount of it on one flight. But just mention it and they will tell you what you have to fill out on the shipping form.
