In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I would like to verify that the method we were planning on shipping a adult beardie next month is correct. We've no problems with smaller dragons (deli-cup or big tupperware size) nor with snakes (bagged or cupped). I have never shipped anything larger than that however and would like some verification on the method planned.

The Plan:

Insert dragon into a 15 long x 5 high x 6 wide rubbermaid with plenty of airholes and paper towel padding. Place in insulated box padded well with crumpled & shreded newspaper. No holes in insulated box, a few air holes in exterior cardboard box. Mark box as per usual (Live Harmless Reptiles, Keep 70-80*F) and labeld on the Airborne label "Pogona Vitticeps".

The will be shipped like all our stuff is shipped - dropped of directly at the Airborne Terminal 15-30 minutes prior to their closing at 7pm, labeled for next *morning* delivery by noon. Signature required by buyer.

Thanks for your time!
Jenn

The shipping date is about July 7th, we'll pull weather reports on the 5-6th and verify. The buyer is not very far from me really, she's in SC ad I'm in TN... so *theoretically* the package should only go from me in TN, to the Airborne Depot in Ohio, then straight to her.. I anticipate a very short overnight trip for them...

Our night temps on average for her and I this month look to be around 65*F. Beardies low range is in the 50's, highs around 100*F. Do you think we'd need to plan for a hot/cold pack if our day temps are staying right around 80-90*F, Nights in mid-60's, and the transit time should be evening, night, and early morning only?

I'm just asking again cause I'll need to go ahead and order more hot/cold packs as I rarely ship and do not have any on hand. Dont think I can find anything decent locally either :(

You probably need to find out what the temps will be like in Ohio as well. A lot of times, the boxes will sit on a runway for hours. The cargo holds in the planes are more or less climate controlled, but it's sitting on the runway that you want to worry about. I've personally never shipped anything myself, having only local business, so hopefully someone else who has experience shipping will come along and either confirm or deny the need for a hot/cold pack. As far as the rest of the packing, it is exactly what I would want a dragon being shipped to me to arrive in.

I meant to include the Ohio depot in the previous note, I forgot ;)

So much for accuracy on late night posts, LOL....

Wilmington Ohio's average low for the month of July is 63*F.

We use bags for larger dragons like you would for a snake. Put some shredded paper in the bag and then place the bag in a sea of crumpled paper in the insulated box. A large tupper ware will work as well.

You should be fine without heat/cold packs but it's better to be prepared in case there is a weird weather fluke.
