In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

As stated this is the first time I have EVER shipped ANYTHING, am quit nervous. :ack2: So I have a few questions. How many days before shipping them are they not supposed to eat? I am assuming two days. Are these heat packs ok? http://cgi.ebay.com/fifteen-15-40-h...goryZ519QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
I was told the 40 hour ones were good. Where at would you place the heat pack. I have ONE here now that lasts for a little over a half an hour and gets to 110 degrees so I was thinking beside the Gecko not underneath so they don't fry.

I have a mental image of what I am going to do. I was thinking of a box thats a little taller so the air holes can be all around the top and then putting those egg carton thingys generally used for Crickets on the bottom and around the walls. Then putting his container in the middle with air holes of course and paper towels in the container surrounded by Styrofoam peanuts. I am going to buy packing tape and tape everything down so theres no everything moving. Then cutting a piece of cardboard to fit over the loose area in the box with a hole over his container for the air holes. Just to keep everything from moving you know. If anybody has any pictures they could show that would REALLY help. Thanks again Guys. :)

Clay's site (1st link) gives excellent directions, and you can get a much better price buying the heat packs directly from Superior (2nd link). I believe that a 10-pack of the 40 hour packs are only $10.00 from Superior.

Make sure you line the box with styrofoam, and other than in the container you actually put the critter into, the air holes only need to be minimal, or you lose the effectiveness of the heat packs.

Cat thats a problem then because the only styrofoam I was able to get my hands on were the peanuts. The Post Office didn't even have any. Without a car where do I find that stuff? An sorry I thought Superior was a little more expensive but maybe I was having a blonde moment with that chart? lol

Sweetness, Thanks a bunch Don! One more question though and I'll order that. Air holes for an adult Leo, needed? I'm not seeing them anywhere on the box and am just wondering.

Usually holes are not needed for snakes because the box is not completely sealed and some air will get in.

I don't know anything about geckos so I don't know if their metabolism is fast enough to require air holes, although I doubt it. I would keep any holes you do make to a minimum and only poke them through the cardboard and not all the way through the insulation; unless instructed by an experienced gecko shipper to do so.

You can trim a bit off one corner off from the top piece of styrofoam, just enough for airflow without compromising the warmth of the heatpack. I get nervous that the styrofoam will seal too well otherwise.....but as long as you don't tape every nook and cranny of the cardboard box, it does not seal tightly enough to prevent air from getting in. No more than a couple of small holes in the box if you feel the need.

Thanks for posting that link to the shipping "kit" from ProExotics, Don! I had forgotten that they offered that. A very handy one to remember for those who are only going to ship one or 2 critters!

Don-I second that thanks
Those would be just perfect for small shipping needs or if you can't get hold of everything that's needed for some reason
I do not drive either and ordering from the web is a often a lifesaver

:D
