In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone besides me go through this?
I have animals coming today and I am doing nothing but stressing!
Where I live nothing is gaurenteed by 10 or 12, nope it is 5pm the next day. So I get the thrill of waiting that much longer :ack2:
In the next few months I will be ordering a lot of animals and supples. Supplies I worry about because you never know if the person is good today will be good tomorrow, but the ANIMALS, that is a whole different kettle. Their safety, they are live. I pace, make calls, check things, double check, triple check. Did I hear a knock? Oh no what if I missed it?
Am I alone here?

I usually only stress if I have a weak or stupid moment, and allow somebody to use DHL. Their track record with me sucks, and getting my animals usually involves calling and having them go back to wherever they left it (& bring it to me). Usually ends up being about 4-5pm, by the time it arrives.

FedEx, I just have hold the package at the sort facility - it is about 3 miles from my home, and I don't have to wait up for them (unfortunately, neither UPS or DHL can seem to get that holding the package thing right :ack2: )

I never have a problem waking up in the morning when I know animals are coming. I usually get about 3 hours of sleep those nights. However, it's more of an excitement thing than nerves. By the time I'm opening the box I'm always saying a little prayer hoping nothing went wrong.

Getting in a shipment is like Christmas, even if it means that you bought your own present. It's always more exciting than buying at a show.

Ah, I'm the same way...only for me, since I work nights, it means staying up until it gets here and pacing! Fedex has actually gotten pretty good about getting here right around noon (yeah, that's for a 10:30 package), but UPS seems to get later every time they deliver here. So, staying up til 2 or 3 in the afternoon, wondering why they haven't arrived yet (even though I know why, just cuz UPS is stupid)....yep, I get stressed. Sometimes I'll try to catch a nap while the ol man is up and he waits for it, and will wake me when it gets here....but then I lie in bed and wonder if HE will miss the truck (I know he won't, and the dogs all go ballistic when it arrives so it would wake me anyway)....but I usually will manage to finally doze off long about the time it gets here anyway.

But then opening the package makes it worthwhile! ;)

Yep it is like Christmas and so worth it!
Mine came around 2:30 today, which is good. Both fedex and ups drivers know most of my stuff is "harmless live animals" lol so they keep them in the front with them whe they see it :)
I feel all better now that they arrived safe and sound. The thrill of it all, but I know that next order the same thing will happen

So much better then getting bills all the time.

See my mood has already changed :D

Ok I read this from Rozann and thought about it.....after careful consideration I am going to ad my .02 here. I am going to give it to you as I remember it,

As many of you know Ro and I are exes....it was for our daughter that we bought the first bearded dragon. Ok came time to buy the second bearded dragon..(one is just never enough). We ordered it next day delivery. I dont remember what month exactly but going to say Sept. I am up visiting the kids and wanting to see the new addition:

1030am rolls arround and no dragon. Rozann is going nuts, we call the shipper, got the tracking number UPS says sorry due to your location we cant guarantee by 1030 it will be there today though. Well she doesn't like the answer but what can she do. (boy was I wrong about that one)

1:00PM comes along and she is nuts again. Wants me to call UPS, call the shipper, call anyone who can find this dragon.

230PM I have decided that being in the house is no longer safe, or healthy. I move out to the garage. My peace of mind only lasts about 15 minutes before she figures out I am not coming back in. She comes out and sits on her lawn mower. Every motor sound she hears that is larger than a car she stand up and watchs the truck drive by. Giving the driver a look that could best be described as "if you dont have a delivery for me, just keep moving if you know whats good for you". (And believe me she is good at that look).

330PM I am on the phone to anyone who will listen. (at her request). I think she even "suggested" I get in the car and find UPS driver since the dumb SOB driver can't seem to find her.

Sometime between 430-500 the package is delivered. And the Jeckel-Hyde changes revert to the kinder and gentler version. Which is good since she was about ready to chew on the concrete, and remodel the garage with her bare hands.

Ok story 2. Wes (wilomn) sends her a package of snakes. This is again via UPS, well there is a weather delay and the package gets held up in KY. its not going to make it to her the next day. I am at work in Grand Rapids and she figures that the package will make it that far. She calls me at work and wants me to go down to UPS sort facility here to find her snakes. (Again keep in mind that a suggestion is putting it mildly) I try to explain that the UPS facility is bigger than most European Countries, but she wont listen. I call my UPS rep explain the situation and while he is laughing promises to help if he can. In the time it took for me to do this, I bet she called me 5 times wanting to know what I was doing about this. Well we couldnt find the snakes in GR but I think she drove and met the plane the next morning. Just so she wouldnt have to wait for the driver to deliver it all day.

I swear these are true stories, no names changed for the innocent. Granted this is my perspective but the facts are true.

Hmmm, though somewhat accurate I view this a little bit differently.
First off, I am a believer of going straight to the top, none of this talking to the first person that comes on the phone stuff.
Mike seems to think he can flirt himself into getting the answers he wants. I bypass all that crap and just get the person in charge. After ASKING him several times to get that part right, I finally took the phone and did it myself to show him just how to get things done. :D
Nicey nicey does not work when you are dealing with UPS!

As for the package that Wes sent, that was a package that had a 60 year old tort in it (there have been several packages from him) I believe along with snakes so yeah when shipping was delayed I was upset. Let me ask who wouldn't be?
Wes on his end was making numerous calls as well (and probably receiving his fair share of my panic calls as well  ) So in asking Mike to go to UPS to see if he could find the package didn't seem, to me, like a big deal. How was I to know that place is huge? Well, so Mike says it is :reddevil:
I did indeed go to UPS and the airport in the morning and retrieve my package and was very happy that all had survived the trip, it was a big box let me tell you!
To be fair here, it is probably best not to be around me on the days I am supposed to receive a shipment, I do get a LITTLE stressed :D :yesnod:

Im pretty antsy when i get a package. I get about NO sleep those nights, and am ususally up till 5AM tracking the package in general.

Ill get up in the morning at about 9:30am but thats after waking up in 20 minute intervals throughout the morning hours. once up, I just wait. Any truck noises and im RUSHING over to look out the window...

On earlier days ( wed's ) im at work at 8:30am so, usually id just leave a note on my door for them to deliver at my work. Fortunately Fed ex and UPS know where i work, and both of them rock and bring me packages there first if they're passing by. If they see the note, theyll head on back to where i work to deliver.

But every time i get my packages theres that SMALL amount of dread that im going to end up finding a dead animal. Its never been the case for me... but i cant help but worry.

Once out of the box im ususally so happy( like everyone says, its like Christmas all over again) just to have them, and i check them out for any problems. ( never a problem :p ) then. theres that massive urge to take pictures. but ususally its into their nice warm enclosure for a few days before i really pester them. :p
