In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This service allows you to ship reptiles (including snakes) via UPS. You purchase the service through their site, properly pack the box, print out and attach the label, and away you go--drop off at UPS, or schedule a pickup.

Easy to use, NO glitches, NO problems, UPS didn't blink at my package, and it arrived safely and on time. I have nothing but good things to say about them. A service like this has been much-needed, and it's being done RIGHT.

According to the UPS website and terms, they still specifically prohibit shipping of live snakes (both nonvenomous and venomous), crocodilians, and other species. They're okay with turtles and lizards. Shippers still have to have their packaging tested and get no live-arrival guarantees from UPS.

That said, I'd -love- for UPS to relax their restrictions a bit and give FedEx some competition.

Pro Exotics(Ship your Reptiles) have been working closely with UPS to get them to open up their service to the reptile community. They have now broen down that wall and I think this will be a great thing for UPS and the Hobby.

I used it and I'm happy with it. I sent out a box yesterday list as a live harmless reptile with UPS. Got there before 10 am. Had a shipment come in today that used SYR and was flawless. I'll still get my account as a back up but until then , I'm not having problems nor forsee anything majorly bad.

Is the advantage to this the fact that UPS offers cheaper rates than Fedex? I'm sorry I'm just not informed of the service at all, if anyone could divulge further.

I was happy with the shipping amount. Didn't bother to compare between the two but I've always preferred UPS over Fed Ex. UPS don't care if its a house, a business or a cardboard box under a bridge, it'll get shipped & delivered.

ship your reptiles

We used them as well, great rates for customers, easy to use all we did was drop off our shipments as we normally do and go. Great site and user friendly.

I have found UPS and Fedex half of their staff is not up to date on what they can and cant ship as of reptiles. Im verified with UPS before the SYR site came about and it was so simple to do. Just had a rep stop by and go over it with us and thats all it was. Nothing like Fedex to set up. We did a box test and signed off on some forms stating they were not liable for loss or D.O.A'S.
Now what we do know is if you use fedex kinkos or UPS store those are a seperate franchise they have their own terms what they accept. You just have to talk to the manager and get the ok with them.Other than that drop off at a facility and youll have no issues.

I have recently been in contact with them. I went to drop off a package at the ups hub near my home and was told they will be enforcing the no snake shipping. They were told by there "security specialist" that as of the other day(beginning of March) they will be checking boxes. I have spoken to Walt at Shipyourreptiles.com and he is checking into it. I hope the people at ups out here are wrong. Thanks

There are many choices for drop off locations. As a hobby, we are bound to run into reptile phobic clerks at any time. There is little we can do about Know-it-All Andy at a particular UPS counter in Racine Wisconsin, or wherever. He is going to flex his (ignorant) power any time he gets his chance, that is what makes his day.

You can schedule a driver pickup from your home, you can drop your package off with a friendly business that has a daily pickup, and you should meet minimum phobia at friendly UPS drop off points like Staples and Office Depot.

Individual UPS Stores are franchises, independently owned, and they set their own standards for what they will and won't accept, and may choose to abide by the UPS tariff on accepting perishable packages, or not.

Many VET CLINICS have daily pickups and deliveries, those are excellent and EASY opportunities to get your prepaid package into the hands of the UPS driver. Bike shops have pick ups and deliveries, so do hardware stores, auto spots, and 1000's of other businesses. If you have a friendly relationship with any of these folks, it is not hard to leave your packages with their own for their daily pickup. It is of no additional expense or consequence to them, or you, and drivers make regular, timed, predictable stops and these small businesses.

As for our rates, Next Day Air is a straight 30% savings from the UPS rate. There is no fuzzy math involved. Getting a quote on the front page of our site is QUICK AND EASY, no registration is required to get the quote, and it will show you the UPS rate, as well as the ShipYourReptiles.com rate. The savings is QUITE REAL! : )

I'm so glad this is being done right this time with a quality name!

Can you go into any specifics on the UPS snake shipping policy? Are they monitoring things, or do you have a waiver for those who ship with your company?

Who did you get ahold of at UPS to set this up? I called them after reading on fauna of UPS opening things up a little for reptiles and got told I was wrong. Any information to point me/us in the right direction which ups can't seem to do would be greatly appreciated.

I will definitly use your service over ups straight out. Heres the problem, its not at any franchise ups store. This is the main hub at the detroit metro airport. The counter persons are the ones who set my account up and let me know they are shipping animals. No problem until this last week when they were informed by Security at corparate they no longer will accept snakes. This is after all the reading and following of your wesite I thought this was a done issue. I just did not want to have a driver pick up at my store and drop off the snake the next day because the ups hub would not accept it. And yes they have opened all my packages after I left to verify what was being shipped. But you guys are doing a great job at this and I hope you keep this going. Again, I will be using your service. Thanks

At this point, snakes still are not allowed to be shipped through UPS. They have made one exception to the account that Pro Exotics has, which can be used by custumers of SYR. In order to ship snakes through UPS, they must be sent using shipyourreptiles.

I think this is a great step forward, but I do have a question. Why must we go through another company to ship snakes via UPS? In other words, if Robyn can ship snakes, why can't any other commercial company? I think what they've done at Pro Exotics is great, but I felt the same way when Rich here at Fauna opened up a diallage with Fed ex, and now we can all ship snakes using Fed ex. I'm not sure I understand what the distinction is between Pro Exotics and any other commercial reptile seller in the eyes of UPS. I might contact UPS and just ask them, unless someone is able to explain it to me here. Don't mean to be a boat rocker, just wanted to see that everyone is treated fairly and on equal footing.

We are still in a "pilot program" phase of the snake shipping program. Our initial venture with snake shipping was ONLY for Pro Exotics shipments, at the end of 2008, and that went really well, no problems at all. We brought the ShipYourReptiles.com model to UPS, and it showed TONS of potential, especially in a slumpy economy, and especially in an industry where FedEx has made huge inroads in the last few years.

At this point, if we can show viability with NON-VENOMOUS snake shipping, for the reptile industry, UPS is motivated to open up snake shipping across the board.

As it is now, it is specifically prohibited in the UPS tariff, and that is a HUGE DEAL in the UPS Corporate world to get changed, they don't do that casually.

There is resistance from all types of snake and reptile phobic parties. Drivers, clerks, even pilots, lots of folks are SCARED STIFF of non venomous snakes, so it is indeed an uphill battle.

We have had a terrific first full week of shipping, numbers are incredible, and if we can continue to book and ship NON-VENOMOUS snakes and reptiles RESPONSIBLY, I think UPS can get the tariff changed this year. That opens up non-venomous snake shipping for everyone.

Robyn, thank you very much. That was just the information I was looking for. You have done a good thing here, as usual. Very impressive. I'll see you somewhere down the line. Take care.

Thanks for your support Ken. As a business, we are looking to book LOTS of shipments, and save folks a ton of money. We even have Business Client services for those that are doing a large enough volume to beat the SYR discount, and need a deeper discount.

But a primary goal is also to open up NON-VENOMOUS (sorry, gotta keep hammering that point home) snake shipping for the reptile hobby. An irrational phobia is not a reasonable excuse to exclude snakes, especially when the reptile industry has so much to offer as a whole.

Next up for us is ShipYourAquatics.com, for the coral and fish hobbyists (6-8 weeks to be live for that site), then ShipYourBicycles.com, ShipYourRC.com, and on and on into dozens of internet-centric hobby niches. It is just about infinitely scalable, and THAT POTENTIAL is what makes the SYR site even more viable for UPS.

The Wide Wide World of Web Internets is a vast and promising place!
