Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Good Guy ShipYourReptiles.com / AllProShipping.com

I shipped my package with SYR on Monday. Saved $13.00 off normal UPS pricing that I had originally priced out. That part was great! The only thing that happened to me that had me a bit confused at first was, I had printed my shipping label on the 20th, but did not ship out until the 23rd. When I went under tracking, it showed that I had "rescheduled" my package. I called UPS and they showed all was under control and it would be delivered next day as arranged. They said it happened as I did not ship on the 20th. Maybe print the label the day you want to ship...I also was lucky to talk to Walt at SYR. He was a great help and very kind. I had printed my shipping label to use on a 7x7x6 box, well turns out I needed a bigger box! I already had my label printed and was not sure how UPS would handle the change! Walt informed me that we could cancel that shipment and print a new label or I could send the package through and UPS would bill SYR the difference and then SYR would bill me. I thought that worked great as I did not want my customer to see I canceled the shipment and have them all confused and worried they would not get their reptile! Awesome first experience and I will use them again!

I really love how Ship your Reptiles deals with all these issues so you do not have to call UPS. VERY NICE!

I'm having some problems with the cost calculator. I hope they get back to me before monday because I have to ship some snakes out. Here's the message I sent them:

"I have a question about your shipping costs. On your front page it says a 4lb package shipped from california to colorado is $35.10.
I'm trying to ship a package within california (santa rosa 95407 to monrovia 91016). When I calculate the cost of a 12"x12"x12" box weighing 4lbs, the shipping cost is $46.00 (for next day air).
When I calculate the same package on the UPS site the cost is $46.23. That doesn't seem like much of a savings, and I don't understand why it costs more than shipping to another state. Am I calculating it wrong?"

I actually went in to schedule a shipment too and made sure I didn't click on any extra fees. Pretty strange.
Also, you guys may know the answer to this: My work has a daily UPS pick up, would I need to schedule a separate pickup for my package or will they take it with the rest of the stuff?

I found an answer to my pickup question in the other posts. Sorry about that.
I guess box size makes huge difference. Seems like weight would matter more. a 10" box is almost $10 cheaper than a 12" box. Perhaps I've answered my other question also. Need to get a smaller box!

Robyn and the rest,
I want to thank you all for helping clear some of this up. I am proud to be part of this reptile community. Together we can move forward and be proud that we are all trying to do the right thing. As for shipping, I will be using Shipyourreptiles for all future shipments. We average 10-20 boxes a weeks during peak months and this will be a great savings. Thanks again and let Walt know he was great to speak with over the phone.

If you leave your package with the rest of the days pickups, the driver will take it for you no problem, AT NO EXTRA COST!

Check out our Get Help page about DIMENSIONAL WEIGHT. If you use a larger box at lighter weight, UPS charges you the dimensional weight of the box. That is why you must enter the box dimensions, as well as the weight.

Dimensional weight is calculated by multiplying the lxhxw of the box, and dividing by 194. Your 12" cube is 12x12x12, divided by 194, 8.9, which rounds to 9 pounds.

A 10" cube dimensionalizes at 6 pounds. Either one of those is greater than your actual weight, so you are billed at the "dim weight" of 9 pounds, for that larger box.

A 9 lb box sent Next Day Air with UPS is $82. On ShipYourReptiles.com it comes to $57, that is a savings of $25. That is a good example of the hard savings calculation set at 30% :yesnod:

Ship that same box (I quoted as MD shipping to CO) at 4 lbs, which is where our 12x9x6 box dims at, and it is $41 to ship.

I just received a shipment through ShipYourReptiles and everything went perfectly. Shipping was about 40% off FedEx rates and received my package at 9:30 am. Excellent experience.:)

I really like this service. Hoping to ship out a couple lizards within the next few weeks.

The hardship for most breeders/dealers is cost. Not just for us, but for the people buying. A $50 animal costs at least as much to ship. Worst case, it dies, and a replacement is due - in whihc case, we're out the cost of the animal, plus shipping.

This really would help in those situations (which I have not had to do, thankfully).

Probably the best thing about this is the ease. Most people are afraid to ship - they have no account, no experience - they just don't know what to do. If they have an animal they'd like to sell of trade, they'll often do pick-up only. This doesn't eliminate the uncertainty of packing the thing, but it does take a lot of stress out of the process.

I'll post my experience.

Just reporting another flawless shipment.
First box sent via SYR was smooth as can be.

Just a tip:
watch those dimensions! They will come back and bite you!
nothing like proudly telling your customer shipping will only be $48, instead of fedex's $76.00, only to be charged $20 more on shipping day becasue you put in the wrong dimensions, and were to proud to ask your customer for another jackson! :shootfoot !

I was skeptical about this site when I first heard about it. I get a decent discount through UPS already as I do $500 worth of buisness with them every month or so. Yet I compared a few shipments I had to do yesterday and today through them and the UPS website under my account and I saved about $10 per shipment on average. So I will be using this site for all my UPS shipments from now on :)

UPS will check the dimensions. And UPS will often get them wrong.

It was hard to believe, but our driver told us that they have people in the hub that check packages for size. They use electronic rollers that measure length. As packages roll by, they roll them along the package, coming up with a "dimensional weight"(volume to us).

If it is greater than the actual weight, the shipper is billed for the corrected weight. It happened all the time to us, so we knew they were doing it. The driver insisted the persons responsible would get bonuses for finding more boxes that were improperly sized.
So, being given a financial incentive, they found more - by rolling the device along the diagonals.

don't know if it was/is true, but the driver retired a while back, and had been there long enough to retire.

We shipped out multiple boxes a day, all across the US. When we had a box that was light for its size, we measured it - and sometimes we'd overstate the sizes. Most of our boxes were standard size, so we knew the dimensions. Still, UPS would send him a bill for boxes that were of a heavier dimensional weight.

We knew this to be an absolute fabrication, and had paperwork to prove it. They'd credit us, of course, but how many people don't bother keeping tabs or checking?

Just make sure you measure all your boxes, and write them down. Better yet, use a a standard size boxes.

And another shipping tip - ALWAYS place clear tape over your shipping labels. My father's business has done massive volume with UPS and Fedex over the last 30 or so years. If the corner of a label lifts up, and boxes are slid on top of each other in the truck (bigger issue with bigger packages, of course), the corner of the label can catch the box being slid over it, neatly and flawlessly transferring over to the new box! We've seen boxes come in with strange shipping labels on them - current ones!

It's rare, but it does happen.

Robyn,
I need your help with this. I recently used SYR to send out two packages today. I needed them to go out today so scheduling a pick up was out and I needed to drop them off. I dropped them of at the same hub as before and was instantly grilled about the contents of the boxes. We, as a reptile community, do not want to lie about what we are shipping. I told her the exact contents of the boxes and was told the same thing. No snakes. After explaining the whole situation with SYR and UPS she understood but inforrmed me unless they have something from corporate stating they can ship, they can not.

I tried to pull up your site and show them but no where on your site could I find where you state you are approved to ship snakes specifically. They stated they know people drop animals off in unmarked boxes and this was against their policy. Knowing I ship reptiles, they will typically check the content of the box once I leave. I did the right thing by using your company, Marking the box, and not lying to the ups hub employees. I was told until they receive something from corporate they will most likely be sending my packages back to me.

Any help would be appreciated on this. Thanks
Chris @ Newt's Pets

Even though I don't like UPS and wouldn't use them to ship an empty box if it was free...I gotta give you props for the wonderful thing you are doing for the hobby as a whole. Keep up the good work.

Wow - I just shipped my first package through these guys yesterday, perfect! I had no problems at my UPS office with my package and the snake arrived safely in my customer's hands at 9:30 am today. A++++ Keep it up guys! Couldn't have been easier.

FYI ( got this email today):
Temporarily stop snake shipping
Header

Hi there,

Due to some irresponsible shippers, UPS has directed our customers to temporarily stop shipping snakes with ShipYourReptiles.com.

We are working hard to reinstate safe snake shipping for our customers and the entire reptile community.

Other types of UPS-approved non-venomous reptiles — including geckos, lizards and turtles — may be shipped with ShipYourReptiles.com.

To make your shipments easy, we recommend you drop off your packages at a Staples or Office Depot shipping counter.

We will keep you updated on this matter.

Thanks for your patience and support,

-- Robyn and the ShipYourReptiles.com team

I got it too. On the bottom of my email it said it might be a scam as i am on a government computer with lots of bells and whistles as far as computer security goes.
