Well, somewhere in San Diego and Buffalo, there are FedEx employees who don't give a flaming crap about the animals being shipped or the people who ship and receive them.
The corporate offices might need to put out a memo about SYR being a new client, and how to handle the shipping of herps properly and without delays.
The manager I talked to in the local office said that the wide-body planes that they use each have AT LEAST 8 sealed compartments, so there should have been at least ONE compartment that didn't contain dry ice.
That was the issue in San Diego. They said the plane was LOADED with dry ice, and it would deplete the oxygen, endangering the animals.
Maybe someone saw "Snakes On A Plane" one too many times...
The frogger/manager said that in his 20-some years at FedEx, he'd NEVER heard of ANY animal being bumped over dry ice, so this leads me to believe that SOMEONE just didn't want the box on their plane.
Then there's the issue in Buffalo.
The manger himself placed the box on the Saturday cart because he was alerted that it was already delayed in San Diego, so he took it off the plane and put it on the cart.
And it had "LIVE HARMLESS GECKOS" written ALL OVER the box!
NOT "Live Reptiles", Not "Snakes that might eat you", not "Anaconda" or "Venomous Gaboon Viper".
SOMEBODY didn't want to make the delivery, and moved it to the Monday cart.
Now-maybe the driver didn't want to come over to the West Side if that was the only package that was coming this way...which I highly doubt!
I suspect he just didn't want a herp in the truck with him...just in case in chewed it's way through the deli cup, through the foam insulation, and through the cardboard box.
I can actually see that happening...NOT!
Somewhere along the way, several people are just deciding they don't want to do certain things, and if they don't want to do the work in their job description, AS ORDERED, they should seek employment elsewhere, and let others have their jobs!
Can postal workers go through their stacks and decide NOT to deliver to certain addresses or names on their routes?
NO.
Do you get to pick and chose which parts of your job you want to perform and which parts you totally ignore?
NO.
FedEx should can the morons who decided of their own volition NOT to ship/deliver the package according to the protocol of the company.
