    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

should I or shouldn't I?

I was cleaning everyone up today and letting them have their weekly soak. I had the girls(shtctb and tremper albino) in front of my blizzard's tank soaking and he was right there giving them the attention they wanted. the shtctb actually even turned her back to him and raised her tail!! now my bf and i are trying to decide if we should let them breed. i have no problem finding them homes if it came to that. do i need to prep the girls? how do i go about making an incubator out of a 10 gallon tank? i use peat moss for the hides, is that ok for them to lay eggs in? thanks for your help. the girls weigh 55 gms(shtctb), 60 gms(tremper albino) and the male is 50 gms. i was planning on doing it sometime in the future but since it seems that the interest is there, maybe now is a good time. thanks for your input.

I would get set up with the proper equipment before breeding any animals..... Home made incubators are not the way to go unless you are using the right materials and frankly, a ten gallon tank is not what you want to use.....

You also should have enough cages or rack draws to be able to house the hatchlings individually..... Even clutch mates will compete for food.... You do not want to let your hatchlings go too early..... I normally wait until they are in the 15 to 20 gram range..... So you may be holding on to some hatchlings for a while.... The peat moss is great lay box substrate but in should not be used as an incubation substrate....

Also as I have mentioned a few times, you need to make sure your leos are in breeding condition.... Just because a leo is in the 50 gram range, it does not mean it is in good breeding condition....

I agree with all of what Gregg said. The 10 gal incubator is not the way to go at all. It can help in a pinch if your incubator breaks down but not for a long period of time, like the whole incubation period. One thing that Gregg didn't mention is the calcium for the girls. They need lots of it when developing eggs. That is one of the most important thing for them. Also a 60+ gram female does better than a 50+ gram. Not saying a 50+ gram can't handle laying she just might not do as well if she had another 10 grams packed on her first.

I agree with with Gregg as well. A 10 gallon is just not gonna do it. It is great to have set up for emergencies but not full incubation time.I would research the whole breeding thing and get as much info as you can get all of the geckos to a vet for a check up and then decide at that point if its something you want to do. This is definatly not something you want to go into blind. Incubator is first on the list you must have a proper incubator to start with...lots and lots of calcium for the ladies. Make sure they are all in excellent health...breeding is just as hard on the males as it is the females...they will also go off food sometimes so you really want to make sure they have plenty of weight on them to start with.

ok thanks for your input on everything. i may then hold off on everything then until i can get my hands on an incubator. i had seen designs on ten gallon incubators and liked them so that is why i asked. the geckos are all in good condition, they are vet checked. i was just asking since i saw the behavior occurring already. i was planning on doing this next year when they were a little older and some more weight on them. so now i know to wait and get more prepared for it. thanks again for all the input.
