In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well we attended the reptile expo (October 5th) in Poughkeepsie and I somehow ended up with an extra leopard gecko. We went for a chameleon, and came home with a chameleon and two leopard geckos actually.

Anyways. One was an albino Mack snow from Azo Reptiles, she is doing amazing.

The other was a hesitant purchase from Reptile Kingdom. I purchased him from the "Stub tail" collection. He seemed underweight at the time but I attributed this to the recent tail loss. Almost a month later he has not gained a single gram. I contacted Allen to find out what he was feeding and finally got a response after the second email.

I have heard mixed feelings regarding Allen and his business practices. Has anyone dealt with ill animals from him or is this just my luck? I just worry because I also got my chameleon from him and really don't need two sick animals. I'm curious as to whether this is common of his stock and I should take my animals immediately to the vet or if I'm just worrying to much.

A couple questions...
1. Is she eating and not gaining weight?
2. Are her stools normal in appearance or loose / watery?
3. What temps are you keeping her at?

If your husbandry is correct, the most likely culprit is probably internal parasites. Coccidia and pinworms are both very common with leopard geckos. If possible, I would bring a fecal sample to your vet so he can do a fecal flotation. You'll definitely want to keep this guy in strict quarantine from your other reptiles until this is resolved.
If you're feeding her mealworms you may want to place them in a shallow dish. If she is in a weakened state she probably won't be that effective at chasing prey around the cage.
Good luck!

If she's not eating you may want to assist her. If you gently press the mealworms tail against the side of her mouth they will usually bite on and finish swallowing on their own. If you drip water on their noses they will usually lick it off. Of course, this is just a temporary fix until you can address the underlying cause of her refusal to feed on her own. I would start her off with just a few mealworms at a time to make sure she holds them down.
I would also make sure to provide her with a humid hide.

To add to what Chris has already said/asked, make sure you keep the two geckos in separate enclosures.
While in quarantine, this should be done with all critters anyway.

Ok so husbandry wise, Ponto is not showing interest in food. I have got him to eat one wax worm in the last day, not high in nutritional value but it is something. Today he also started his liquid help diet. Chicken baby food, pedialyte and vitamins dabbed on his nose and he licks it off. Not a ton in him but again it's something.

No recent poops so I don't know. The last one I saw looked wet, not like diarrhea but just slimy...

Temp wise he has a cool side at a steady 74°F. His warm side is at 93 in the day with a drop to 81 at night. He has a moist hide and two other hides.

I don't see any problems with your husbandry. The next time he poops I'd collect it and bring it to a vet for a fecal flotation. Parasites are the most likely culprit in my opinion. Leopard gecko feces should be pretty firm and well formed. Slimy feces and no appetite is indicative of endoparasites.

So we're now almost 2months in and there is nothing working for my poor little boy. I'm so upset. I have such a hard time with seeing animals suffer. I have no more money to put into vet bills. Seriously considering putting him in the fridge then freezer. I'm going to give him two more weeks. If there is no improvement I will put him out of his misery. If anyone has ideas on how to help him please let me know.

I'm sorry to hear he still isn't doing well. You might try to see if someone local in one of the leopard gecko FB groups would be willing to adopt him. I would look for someone who either has the resources to treat him or the ability to get him seen by a vet. I'd be happy to help with that if I was local to you.
