In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Simply Snakes anyone delt with them?

I stand by what I said!

Your act wears thin. The "we are above everyone else" act , in case you are wondering.

A good friend of mine has bred Southerns and Easterns quite often over the years. He told me that sometimes babies will just die for no apparent reason. They have good sized litters so its possible some of these snakes weren't fit for survival. I have seen this also in Terciopelos(Bothrops Asper). My buddy Matt breeds these guys quite regularly. They have such large litters, some of the snakes will die right off the bat. Others will eat and drink fine for a few months, and then also kick the bucket. Only about half of these snakes will live. I see this pattern going on with snakes with large litters. I'm guessing this could be the case with the Eastern hog's that you recieved. Hopefully this will work out for both parties.

I went to Ocala after the Daytona show to see my grandmother. It was a night and day difference between what had happened in other parts of central florida. I am not saying anticipating the storm would not get to anyone, but the physical effects of charlie were nil there.

The box without inslulation does bother me. Central Florida is about as hot as it gets (besides the western states). There were what a dozen or more pages on the "box in a bag" thread where the animal had zero health problems. Now animal(s)? die after even worse shipping practices and it is all the buyers fault? I have had a few packages come in from the north uninsulated with very lathargic animals that did not cook enough for instant death, but never took to eating or regaining their motor skills. You would think common sense would force the use of a styro box, but some people cheap out, or have been doing it for so long that they see it as useless and then fall back on very short terms of sale. I know they are not going to rectify the situation, but shipping from florida without insulation should not be overlooked in the deaths of the animal in this thread.

Point about shipping well taken

I personally use shipping boxes purchased from companies that have special boxes for reptiles. I purchased two sizes of boxes, which come flat, with the styrofoam liners seperate, that you have to install. Basically, you you form the flat cardboard into the box, tape the bottom and install the foam liners. I purchased these, a case of tape (which should last me until 2050), a bunch of 40 hr heat packs, two size snake bags-like 30 of each, for about $100. The first few snakes I sent out a few years ago were in Kahl and Sharp boxes from snakes I had received. Anyhow, my point is, buy some snake shipping boxes, heat packs, tape, snake bags....and if you cannot afford the "overhead" of $100, then do not ship.

And the problem I have is with the Holier than Thou attitude, barking about something and then saying, uhh, ok, they just got here.....and then having to "make" something up to justify their post.

This is quoted from Deanna and Sam Gibson =

"MARK AND AIMEE ARE REAL HIPOCRITS.WE BOUGHT A SNAKE FROM THEM AND THEY SHIPPED IT AS A PERISHABLE FOOD ITEM!!
WITH NO HEAT , NO LABEL EXCEPT PERISHABLE , NO ROOM TO BREATH AT ALL (HE WAS ALMOST DEAD) , WENT THROUGH A AIRBONE COMPANY THAT DOESN'T EVEN SHIP ANIMALS (SO JUST IMAGINE HOW THE POOR GUY FEELS.
DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THESE PEOPLE TELL YOU , UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE SNAKE FOR DINNER.
THIER NAME SHOULD BE ""OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE"

Paul and I have really had enough of this thread. Point is this. Mark posted here before the snakes arrived. The POD (Proof of delivery thru Airborne states 10:53am delivery) We sent him an email with tracking number and apparently never got to him. His arguement was he did not like the way they were packed , ie pine shavings and no stryofoam and no toad. We have not tried to turn this thread around and have been QUITE honest. We dont feel that the baby snake died due to any fault of ours therefore no refund. We have the terms of sale and fine print clearly listed on our website. However, if Paul and I had felt the baby dying was our fault we would have gladly replaced the animal or refunded the money. Mark has stated terrible untrue things about us and those of you who know us know that honesty is what we are about. We do not need to defend our postition with Mark any longer. We will not give in to make him happy when we feel we have done nothing wrong other than the toad. Funny thing is the above qoute - and how they shipped their animals to someone as a perishable food item. That TAKES THE CAKE and to me says it all. And if that were a non-issue then why was there 10 pages of it. We appreciate everyone here who has been kind and realized the point and truth to this thread.

As far as the questions you had Mark - John Bernardi who is a friend of ours stated he knew who you were and that he would deliver a toad to you this weekend at a show that is taking place this weekend. Where? I cant remember what he said.

Mark did not ask for a refund in 24 hours - Mark simply complained about the shipping. If Mark was so distraught over the shipping then he should have asked to send the snakes back and recieve a refund at that time.

The Hurricane had nothing to do with the shipping.

Beth has just gotten out of the hospital after major surgery and we dont have time to deal with this. We never made the comments about the BOI and we stand strong on that.

Again we do not feel that that baby died due to shipping.

Sincerly,
Beth & Paul

I don't know who's right or wrong here. I just find it strange how many people are ill or sick in the pet trade. I mean if it's not a death in the family, it's a heart attack or a car accident of any number of other injuries. Makes me want to stay away from the pet trade all together so I can remain healthy and happy.

MARK AND AIMEE:

MY HUSBAND AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THE QUICK TO JUDGE RESPONSE ABOUT SAMSON. IT WAS WRONG FOR US TO ASSUME SOMETHING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO MADE AN EFFORT TO KEEP IN CONTACT WITH US AND YOU WERE EVEN HONEST ENOUGH TO RETURN THE DOUBLE PAYMENT MADE. WE HAVE BONDED WELL WITH SAMSON AND HE IS VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE REST OF THE FAMILY.WE WILL SEND SOME PICTURES AS SOON AS WE CAN GET A CAM SET UP. WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO RESPOND AS QUICKLY AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON.WE WILL RESPOND TO EVERYONE'S QUESTIONS AS SOON AS WE GET A CHANCE.

THANK YOU,
DEANNA AND SAM

Please finish the thread and find that resolution was made. As most of the people on that thread agreed, we shipped in a safe mannor.

If anyone wants to check, that thread can be found at:

Please be sure to read it all...

As for posting before the package arrived...

As there was some error (be it our e-mail or theirs) and we had not recieved a tracking number and I had left a msg on their phone, we were unclear if the package had been sent out. I was waiting for the package at home and then needed to go to work. With the weather and all that hit Florida, it seemed reasonable to inquire about the status of the animals.

we understand that we were in the wrong for bashing mark and aimee , and we apologized for that.
we also thank everyone for their opinion because we are inexperienced shippers. the clearity on shipping snakes is plainly understood.
we have spent 6 years handling snakes , but we never once trying to ship one or have one shipped to us.
hopefully this will put a rest to all of this mess!!!

Although we might never know why the snake died, I don’t believe 70-80 degree temps would kill a healthy animal from an URI in such a short period of time. One exception to this could be if the animal was kept in the 90’s and in a full stomach right before shipping, and then kept in the low 70’s after arrival. A more logical explanation is that these things happen. The only prerequisite for a living thing to die is to be alive in the first place!

Kindly.
