Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I like the idea, what with sloppy teens, a dog that thinks it is human, and so on, a sofa/loveseat/chair cover you can just throw into the washer sounds like a good idea.

What I really need is a new leather sofa set but that will have to wait, but the slipcovers seem like a good idea in the meantime. Anyone have tips or techniques to make sure they fit right and look nice?
 
I've never had much finding any that I like that will fit my furniture.....I'd be glad to find someplace to find some nice ones too.....

Unless of course, you count dog hair as a cover, in that case I have plenty.... :raspberry
 
Surefit has come out with a new line that includes zippered seat cushions, I think I might give those a try; I like Pottery Barn but the ones I wanted were near a thousand bucks for the loveseat/chair set.
 
There doesn't seem to be much action on this thread, geez you'd think this was a reptile site or somethin', lol.

I went shopping this weekend and saw the perfect living room at a department store, only about 5 grand. So, instead, I got on Ebay and have some Pottery Barn Everyday Suede slipcovers on the way, hope they look good on the furniture.
 
Leather sofas look nice and all but they suck to have sex on. Body fluids get to flying and the next thing you know it is like playing on the kids' "slip and slide", and I am getting too old for that crap.

Absolutely. I try to convince people that the dog hair on my couches is actually a protective layer that's meant to preserve the upholstery.

That's what carpeted floors are for, silly! Stairs, too.

On a more serious, but much less fun, note:

I don't have to worry about covering my furniture because they kids have a tendency to BREAK everything anyway. It never happens when I am around, but I am POSITIVE they are breaking it....how else does the BACK of the couch get broken???? (Maybe someone IS having sex on my couch???)
 
The slipcovers finally arrived so I thought I would review them here:

I chose Pottery Barn Everyday Suede as my fabric, and chose the less expensive kind that one has to tuck and tie rather than the very expensive slipcovers with a custom fit.

As expected, they do not look like the catalog pictures: they are a bit wrinkled (WHAT? iron them? lol) and in order to have any semblance of decent fit one must tuck them every so often, which with the way teenagers lie around on furniture means often.

But the fabric is absolutely luxuriously wonderful, a tactile treat. It really does feel like fine suede and is a yummy caramel color 'buff'.
But when the teen spills something, the covers can be removed and laundered (it is a lot of fabric so I would probably go down the street to the commercial laundry and use one of their humongous washers).

Then of course I had to go buy new sueded throw pillows, and a new stereo/tv cabinet (that is a whole nother story, it was one of those cheap furniture kits that come in a box with a zillion pieces (and a ten page set of instructions) that the purchaser have to put together; and my teen conveniently went and took a nap so I did it myself, took me 3 hours), I think that this is one of those deals where there is a cascade effect and you hafta fix up everything in the room, but that is a good thing.

Then I bought 4 new pothos ivy hanging baskets to hang near the patio door windows. And bought the cat a new toy that has little carpet covered platforms, about 2 1/2 feet high with little string covered balls hanging all over for her to play with.

As I said, if you buy 1 new thing for a living room, it turns into a project, lol.... :D
