In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Small quick question

I have a small question in reguards to BP's and may pertain to other snakes cause I have observed this behavior in more than a ball python. In just about every snake I have owned weather it is a BP, garter, Dekay's, Ribbon etc. I have noticed that on occasions after picking them up they would swing their head around and rub their face on my hand. Now generally I would have thought it was close to shed and this was the reason for it. But however it has happened several times sometimes even after shed. They rub so hard that their mouths sort of contort a bit. Almost like they may be itching their face.

I keep an extremely clean enclosure and none of my snakes are allowed to free roam outside. I will not take any animal I own outside without proper defense against some common parasites. I only say this because I thought it might be a parasite thing myself when I noticed the behavior but. There is just no way any snake I own can get one.

I was just curious also it is always the side of the face. Not sure if it is a behavior that is common before and after a shed. I know before it would be normal but after not sure why they would need to do it.

Thanks

I really wouldn't know why your snakes do as you say. Mine don't seem to do that.

On the parasite deal, don't get too bravo about it. Just about when you think it is impossible for your snakes to get something is about when it happens. Could be as easy as a food item carrying it. Make sure you don't get to over confident and keep up on monitoring for any signs. Alot of people take their snakes outside and don't have problems with getting anything. Then others who have left their snakes indoors and in what they thought was a pretty sound environment have gotten hit hard.

Yeah I always monitor for signs of illness. I take her out and check her over for problems that may arise. Most of what I check for is mouth rot and belly blisters. But I am pretty sure the blisters won't be much of an issue cause I keep a pretty dry substrate (not really substrate but cage carpet) I like the carpet cause it makes it really easy for me to keep humidity at a constant percent. I noticed other substrate would make it fluctuate a little because of them holding moisture at sometime and so forth.

thanks for the tips now Im kind of worried again lol.
