    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm trying to save an unexpected clutch and I am having trouble keeping the humity up. Temperature isn't a problem (I'm keeping them around 84 degrees no problem) but the humity is just under 80%. I think it is because I poked holes in the container. If i taped over the holes it should help keep the humidity up but I'm afraid the eggs won't get enough fresh air. What should i do? Is fresh air important?
 
I think they will be fine...mine are at the same humidity I get in my python egg boxes, but are showing no sign of dimpling. I'm not getting any condensation in the container, either; where I frequently wipe the excess water off the top of the python egg boxes. (and I set up the vermiculite exactly the same way - by feel, lol)
 
Over the years

I agree with the other posters in that we always incubate with closed lids etc. It keeps the humidity up, those pesky little fruit/carrion flies out and is much easier to control overall. We use the 12 - 18" deli cups with no holes and open up every 7 - 10 days for air exchange and to add water etc. If the sides of the container does not have condensation we know that it usually means there is not enough moisture in the cups. Good luck with them.
